LG chocolate touch screen goes black once a call is made. I can't access the touch screen to enter voicemail code, choose a menu option, etc. Verizon sent me a replacement phone, and I had the same problem. Verizon just sent me a replacement battery and I have the exact same problem. It is driving me crazy!

I had the same, or a very similar problem. What happened with mine, was the sensor on the upper right corner of the phone was getting blocked. It is supposed to sense when you have the phone next to your face and then it will darken the screen, Mine had plastic that was obstructing it. Hope this helps.
I had a similar problem. I shut it off and turn it on again, and the problem goes away.

Genius! My son fell in the water with the phone in his pocket. We dried it out but although it vibrated and the buttons lit up, the touch screen was insensitive and display dark. I disassembled and cleaned it twice. After reading your answer I cleaned the sensor and it is working perfectly again.
