DID YOU SET THE CHAIN PROPERLY??

THIS IS IN THE INSTRUCTIONS AND IS VERY IMPORTANT.

IF THE CHAIN IS IN THE WRONG POSITION YOU COULD BE AGAINST THE UP STOP WITH THE DOOR CLOSED.

HOPE THIS HELPS

Motor runs but door won't open. checked chain, seems to be ok

Hello,

The problem is not the chain, it is the plastic gear in the unit of the liftmaster Garage Door 1/2 Hp.The plastic gear is not engaging, although it sounds like it is working.

You will have to replace it with a new one, then the liftmaster Garage Door 1/2 Hp will be able to open up once again.

Once you open and remove the old gear, Be sure to thread the screws in all the parts before you install them. Pre-threading them once would really help. Secondly, label the wires on the back of the opener before lowering it to the ladder, so you can put them back in their proper place.

Hope this was helpful.

I have a Craftsman Model # 139.53664SRT that has worked great until recently. When I try to close the garage door by keypad or with remote, it will not allow me to do so unless I turn the light out once...

The first thing I would do is remove the light bulb from the socket and try the opener. I have a feeling the bulb itself is bad or there is some arcing in the socket. Try unplugging the opener and prying out on the center connector of the socket.

I have a liftmaster 2220C, door wont open past the security eyes. I can manually take the door up, let the shoe sit into the socket, and the door has no problem going down. I just can't get the darn thing...

My first suspicion would be a broken door spring. Is the door heavy? Then I would remove the cover from the motor unit and check the drive gear. It is a white nylon gear just in front of the motor. It will be obvious if it is bad.

Blowing out light bulbs

There are rough service bulbs you can buy at hardware stores. You can also try unplugging the unit and using a small screwdriver pull out on the center contact in the light bulb socket.

Garage Opener Lights will not come on

IF YOU CAN - TEST FOR 110V AT THE CENTER TANG OF THE LIGHT SOCKET.
IF NO POWER YOU PROBABLY HAVE A BAD TIMER CIRCUIT ON THE BOARD - NO EASY FIX NEW BOARD.
IF YOU HAVE POWER YOU MAY HAVE ISSUES WITH THE SOCKET OR ARE USING THE WRONG BULB - A STANDARD LIGHT BULB IS ALL THAT IS REQUIRED. SOME OF THE NEW BULBS HAVE A SIMILAR LOOK BUT DO NOT WORK IN A STANDARD SOCKET.

Stripped gear

Try opening and closing your door by hand with the motor detached (detach it by pulling on the rope) It should open and close easily without a lot of effort. If it catches or is too heavy (possible broken spring) it will strip the gear. The door has to be working properly before you can attach an opener to it. If you lift your door up about waist high and let go of it . It should not go up or down but should stay in that position, This tells you that the springs are correctly adjusted

My garage door opener willnot work inside trailblazer .

Do you have a antenna build into the windshield of your car? If so thats your problem and there not much you can do about it other then stick your hand out the window when you pull up, and point the wire coming from your opener toward the door itself. Do not cut or add to that wire.

Craftsman Garage Door Opener Won't Open

When mine did this, it was because the nylon gears that drive the chain had stripped. My wife had to live without the opener for a week or more, but I was able to find a new gear kit online and replace the damaged gears. It wasn't difficult.
The other option is to buy a new opener.
