My Panasonic NV-GS50 movie camera has a black screen and I can't see anything when I'm in camera mode. Playback of previous footage is fine, but I can't get to capture anything anymore. I haven't got any documentation with me so don't know what to do for troubleshooting. Can you please help me? Many thanks. Flo

Sounds like the internal battery is Kaput - you can either
try recharging it, put on the battery power lead with the
charger, about 4 hours or if this doesnt work its got to be new internal battery,
mine went dead after non use for about 4 years, these
batteries need to be monitored. Dunno how much someone
would rush you to change it, but it cant be difficult.
I had this problem, but had to take it to Panasonic service, and they fixed it for about $60!!!

my problems are exactly the same as above described: just playback is OK; but you can't use camera or any Video function because the dark screen!
NV-GS50 has exact same problem - was working fine till yesterday, can see a faint image but pretty much is black. I tool it apart and looks like the connection ribbon may be the problem, broken connection between the unit and the LCD, so possibly the power to the backlight is gone? I am trying to find a replacement - got this part number from the ribbon (WJ1623 FXS) but cannot find this available anywhere. I take it I require the hinge/ribbon assembly that connects the LCD to the main unit. Anyone had any luck with this problem?
Yep - same as above - just happened today. Playback OK, but blank when in camara mode.
I have the same problem as above, the camera was working properly and stored away for some time, when trying to use it again I had this black screen also, video playback is ok too.

Hi My Panasonic NV-DS60B digital camera wont film anything? it just records black! the lens cap is off and the mini dv is new yet no live view is visible on the screen nor is there any image through the view finder? it's just black! any help would be much appreciated!!cheers, fern

omg i have this problem either! I haven't been using the camera for years and now I'm trying to use it gave me the black screen too. Any solution???? I'm dying to use that cam!!!!
