The use of the top paper feeder is the capability to make single or multiple photocopies and for single scanning or multiple scanning. All you have to do is to put single or multiple document in the top feeder and press the COPY BUTTON (third button-right side). Then it will feeds automatically.
The same with scanning, press the SCAN BUTTON (first button-left side) and it will scan single or multiple document.

There is something on your scan glass. If you get lines through the document feeder but not on copies made off the glass then it is a dirty scan glass. There is a thin glass strip where the document feeder feeds the original. Usually something like white out that did not dry smears off an original and ends up on this thin strip of glass. Scratch it off with your finger nail and use some glass cleaner to resolve the problem. The scan glass is about 1/2 an inch to an inch wide and will be on the same side of the machine that the copier feeds the originals in on. Once the glass is clean your problem is solved!
Do you have problem with multiple copies or just wit puling scans? Try to say that the original is feed from adf, clean rollers if you have trouble with copie too.
Scan platform in english is Were you shove the stuff to send ;) ie dirty feed roller, paper detect switch stuck or fragments of paper in original feeding paper path area or feeding stuff too thick or stiff, or if multi document issue it is the pad or roller that sits under the main feed roller...al this is nothiong to do with paper tray full of blanks it is the original feeler area on top..
Same error should occur doing local copy, check feed section/roller
Put the pages in the "multiscan" all at once, not just one sheet at a time. The Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) will feed one sheet of your document at a time untill all of the pages are scanned...
Thanks for using FixYa!
I had this issue once before on a Canon Multifunction printer and when I talked with Canon they said it was a malfunctioning scanning bed. They sent out a new one and I replaced it and had no further problems.
When you reinstall the blue plastic piece underneath, the white plastic sheet that closes over the glass must hang over the blue plastic piece, not tuck under it.
