I tried a Belkin Wireless USB Adapter and the tv screen said it was not compatible.

You will have to buy an LG COmpatible wireless adaptor. This is because your TV cannot install the driver for "any" other wifi adaptor. In amazon it is currently 41$. Pls chk.

  • nigeldean May 07, 2011

This is incorrect as the TV will not recognise other adaptors as the drivers are not installed on the tv

My Dell Inspiron 560 suddenly stopped connecting to internet through cable-modem.

Onboard adaptor hardware failure? Or is it missing Drivers?
Wireless adaptor - did you install drivers for adaptor? Did you check that WiFi on the adaptor is switched on?

On a side note: I've found that USB 2.0 Wireless N adaptors are the best for connectivity, as they have their drivers on the adaptor, are fully plug and play (Vista/7/8 and even some models on XP). I recommend Transcend (brand name).

It sounds like the dongle has a problem. You should consider returning it for exchange or refund.

I found this page on amazon.com - scroll down to bottom to read reviews.. They say easy to install, and work great. One caveat, will not work with older model same tv.

Just bought an open box LG LED 42 inch TV. I got a couple questions. 1. What is the recommended way of cleaning the screen? 2. How do I get it to recognize my wifi? 3. Please provide me a link to an...

Hi Rob,
Here's the link to the product support webpage for your TV. The full manual can be downloaded here (Click "Support," and the link is under "Documents" on the right side of the screen.)

http://www.lg.com/us/tv-audio-video/televisions/LG-led-tv-42LE5400.jsp

From the manual, here's what it says about cleaning:

thomascha103_1.jpg And in order for the TV to recognize your wifi, you'll need to plug in a wireless network adaptor to one of the USB ports. (network adaptor sold separately.) Follow these instructions to establish a wifi connection, and then follow the on-screen instructions for wifi/network settings. Or for details on how to adjust your wifi/network settings, see pages 58 and 59 of the manual.

thomascha103_2.jpg That's kind of hard to read, but it says.
"The LG Wireless LAN for Broadband/DLNA Adaptor, which is sold separately, allows the TV to connect to a woreless lan network.
The network configuration and connection method may vary depending on the equipment in use and the network environment. Refer to the setup instructions supplied with yur access point or wireless router for detailed connection steps and network settings.
1. How to connect
Connect the "LG Wireless LAN for Broadband/DLNA Adaptor (sold separately) to the USB IN 1 or 2 port on the TV.
2. How to use
Select "Network Setting" in the NETWORK menu
After connecting, you can use the NETCAST menu"

Best of luck!

The wireless control input on the back of the TV is not is not for a wireless adapter. It is used to connect a wireless media box, which you don't have. I have the same TV and use the wireless adapter. You want to plug your LG AN-WF100 into one of the USB ports on the left side of the TV.
