Panasonic Plasma TV problem

Power light blinks and then TV shuts down. Also, there is a black 1 inch line from top to bottom in the middle of the screen. TV is only 2.5 years old and we watch very little. What is going on. Is my TV dead?

AS I was watching TV the TV shut down suddenly. When I checked it out the power light was blinking and the Tv refused to start. I disconnected the power and waited a few minutes. Then restarted. The Tv information was completely erased and I had to re put all the info, such as date, time etc. After starting it, there was a very thin colored line in the center of the TV. around the colored line about an inch on either side going from top to bottom of TV it is dark. The picture is cut in the middle. After a few minutes the TV shut down again and the start light button started blinking again.
TV is Panasonic TH-58pe75u. It is 2.5 years old and used lightly. If you think you know what the problem, what is it and how much should it cost to repair, and is it worth repairing?

I have a panasonic viera plasma and suddenly have a 1' black line going down my screen

hi all .ive had the same problem,a thick black line down screen.sometimes it flickers from top to bottom and other permantly in view.but i have solved it.forget your ic boards and taking apart tv.have you got either a ps3 or wii connected to tv.if so unplug power lead from socket and relocate in seperate socket.make sure the lead is completely free of any other leads and you might just find this works.i think the power lead creates some sort of frequency that the tv picks up .good luck hope it works

We had a vertical line about 2 inches wide and going from top to bottom on our 42 inch viera that was a light green-barely interfering with picture. Now that area has gone black while the rest of the tv...

It is either the plasma panel itself or a connection problem, either way it will need to get serviced. Suggest you find receipt and phone Panasonic.
Cheers.

Panasonic 50 inch Plasma

it could have over heated you can try to reset it first unplug it for about five minutes and try to turn it on if that dont work the remote might have a set button try holding that down until the red light flashes twice, then turn it on if not then hold the power button down on the set for a good five seconds to see if that resets it. if none of that works you will have to go to panasonic .com for the reset instructions.with the red light blinking the power supply is most likely good you just need to reset i.
