I have a Samsung plasma (HP-R5072) that is 2.5yrs old and the picture went out. I swapped out the Y Board and 2 buffers and I can at least get a picture, but it appears as though there is water under the screen and there are goofy lines and colors. What do I consider next, or is it time to give up?

Samsung TV Plasma heard a pop then screen went black red blinking screen

How old is the set? Are you attempting to fix yourself? The popping/no picture issue is usually do to a faulty y buffer or y sustain board. If you are willing to open up the set, I would look for blown IC chips on the y buffer (long skinny boards on the far left) boards and for any blown components on the Ysustain (located just to the right of the y buffers) board. If you are considering taking the set to a shop I'm here to tell you it will be cheaper to replace vs. repair. I hope this helps and if you have time please sign my guestbook

My 50'' Samsung Plasma has dead screen after only 2 years

Hi,
welcome to fixya!
without doing voltage checks, my best guess is this:

Plasma hpr5053 or hps5053 models will burn out a buffer board or both, there are two buffers and the Y board.
I usually change all 3 at once, but if on a budget you can try to remove one buffer and see if you get half picture (upper or lower)
this is something only a technician should attempt. the boards cost $200 each (buffers)
$300-$400 (Y board).
if you actually get half a picture the Y and one buffer are good, a bad buffer usually burns out the Y board. and in really bad cases the panel is bad also (not common, but possible)
For part#s , specific help you can post a model# , but again this is a repairmans job not something the average customer can fix.
hope this helps
Eric

Samsung HP-T5054 NO pic No sound B

samsung boards are around $200 EACH , usually a bad buffer burns out the Y board , buit yours sounds like a burn power suppy, do a visual of the PS, if looks ok ck for the VA and VS voltages (there is a tag with the values on it) . if the VA or VS is low or missing you will probably need the Y and both Y buffers.

Try to replace the Logic Board, about 50% chance to fix the problem.
