> says "limited access"

Ah, it _IS_ your wireless setup that is the problem,
because your computer has detected that the wireless adapter has _NOT_ been able to "connect" to any wireless access-point, such as your own wireless router.

If it is "new", take it back to where you bought it, and ask them to give you a demonstration on how to "view available wireless networks", and how to select a wireless network, and how to "connect" to the selected network. Take your wireless router, too, and its power-supply. So, they can setup the router so that it will work when you bring it back home.

How do I turn on wireless capability

To enable or disable wireless functions, you must use the Hot Key combination of "Fn" + "F8". This means to press and hold the "Fn" key (near the windows key), and the press the "F8". This is a toggling function. Each time you press the key, it will turn on or turn off the function. Look for the Wireless Light to ensure that the wireless activated.

Restore FN + F8 key to reactivate Wi-Fi on Toshiba Satellite L500

Hi,
My laptop didnt enable the wifi with the fn+f8 key.
I even reset the cmos and nothing.
Then I went to toshiba drivers website and after installing the "thku" "toshiba hotkey utility" the fn+f8 start working and enable/disable the wifi. It now shows a popup windows when I press the fn+f8 key.

Before the wifi led was always off. Windows detected the wifi device but nothing on the wifi available list.
Now the led is always on, starts orange when I turn on the pc and blue when connected.

The monitor on my Toshiba P25-S5093 does not have any display of any kind; all black. I have display using external monitor.

Hi,
Does the display show anything before you enter windows? If yes, then press the key to transfer video back to your original screen once you enter windows. It should be the function key "Fn" + F5 - F8. looks for the icon which shows a monitor or says "CRT/LCD".
If it doesn't show anything before you enter windows I'm afraid your screen needs to be replaced. Good luck.

How to switch on wireless

On your Laptop, there's no dedicated key/button for wireless as other Toshiba Satellite. There's a hotkey function. Press Fn+F8 (simultaneously) to activate the wireless and press the same keys to deactivate.

When you look at the F8 key, you'll see the wireless symbol (something like tower).

If you need further help, let me know.

Good luck.

Mouse frozen.

Look for the function key for the touchpad. Usually it is fn+f8 so look for the function key and then press fn and the function key at the same time. There will be a pop up window on the lower right hand corner. Look for a square, if you see a square with a slash on it. Redo it again.

If Windows then boots up properly then re-install the latest Windows Service Pack (SP3 for XP, SP1 for Vista).

If all fails then re-install Windows.
