The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). We had a problem with our Nikon Coolpix 5400 getting purplish stripes on the pictures and it turned out to be a faulty sensor. This sensor was manufactured by Sony and used in a number of makers' cameras. Nikon replaced it for free.

You may use a memory card reader if you want to download your pictures from your memory card to your computer.

1.go to menu go to quality and put in fine. make sure also that your flash is on during the night and your not moving the camera around while your taking pictures.
