Bought new honda hrr series mower with auto choke,will not start without starting fluid!
Sounds like it may need the carb clening out, but it could be the auto choke not closing when cold. there was an issue with some of the early auto chokes on the gcv135/160 engines so check to see if the choke flap is in the closed position when starting from cold, run the engine for approx 10-15 minutes and see if the choke flap has opened fully.leave it to go cold and see if the choke flap has returned to the closed position

This is covered by the Warranty. Take it to a local dealer like www.arcolawn.com and have the thermostat replaced.
The first generation thermostats are known for sticking.

It sounds like you are in need of a valve job on it. You can check this by removing the spark plug and holding a finger or thumb tightly over the hole while someone pulls the starter cord. If it doesn't literally "pop" your finger off the hole, you have a leaking valve and need to do a valve job or at the very least a valve adjustment
