Maytag performa washer hot water runs continuously

The washer's hot water continues to run even when the machine is off, I had to turn the water valve off to the washer. The Cold cycle works fine and even when I put it to Cold wash and turn the hot valve on it starts to fill immediately. It doesn't seem to be a water level problem because the washer works fine as long as the hot water is turned off to the machine I have a Whirlpool Estate washer that runs fine when I only use cold water. If I turn my hot water valve on, the washer fills continuously with hot water even when the washing machine is implugged.

Our hot water tank broke and I can't get a plumber till Monday. I tried to run a load on col/cold but it stopped about 10 minutes into the cycle and gave me the H F error code. Can I run it without the hot water turned on??

The water supply to the washer is fine. Filter screens are not stopped up. Supply lines are new. Hot water runs in just fine but the cold will bvarely run in. Takes for ever to fill with just the cold.

Littleone.. please check your instructions.. some washers now dont need Hot water connection to them...they heat their own as part of the efficiency settings on the wash programmes themselves!

I haveno idea how there continues to be water run inside the washer after the cycle runs through. I have even shut the water off and there seems to be water still running inside,

Turn off your hot and cold water valves. Your water valve inside the washer has gone bad. What happens is the valves open and close there is suppose to be a filter screen on both hot and cold inlets where you connect the water hoses to. If not the debris from the water line gets in there and clogs it up leaving the valve open which is causing your problem. Also seen it where people on well water have this problem a lot because the water might be hard with sediment . You can have a qualified technician come fix it won't be too expensive hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

Maytag Performa wont fill hot water

The water fill valve - The water fill valve is a mechanical and electrical part, the coils on the valve need electricity to mechanically open the valve to allow the water to flow into the washer....myth....the washer pumps water into itself...no, it does not. The fill valve opens and the house water pressure pushes the water into the washing machine.
No cold water or no hot water - The fill valve has two coils, one for the hot water and one for the cold water. It is possible that one of the coils can fail and you loose that filling ability. If the cold water coil quits, the hot will still work and during warm fill you will get hot water only and during a cold fill you will get no water at all. If the hot coils quits, you will still have cold water fill, cold water only on a warm setting and no water on a hot fill setting. If the hot coils quits, you will still have cold water fill, cold water only on a warm setting and no water on a hot fill setting. You can test a fill valve live for 120 volts, power to a fill valve coil and no fill = a bad fill valve. You can also test the coils for continuity, no continuity = a bad fill valve. Some Maytag washers have a fuse in the fill valve circuit, if this fuse let go the washer will not fill. Fill valves can also from time to time stick open and not stop filling. If you have to shut off the fill valves to stop the water from filling in the washer, you have a bad fill valve and you will have to replace it.

Maytag performa washer hot/cold cycles reverse, hooked up correct

This sounds like a cold water supply problem that's usually caused by a problem at the water inlet valve. First, remove the water supply hoses and check the small screens inside the water inlet valve. Make sure they are not clogged with rust or debris. Next, check the solenoids using a multimeter or ohmmeter. Check for continuity. A lack of continuity indicates a faulty solenoid and the water inlet valve assy will need to be replaced. I will attach a photo for reference. Hope this helps and best wishes.

Maytag performa

does the water overflow from the waser. also try and fill the washer up with water and when you feel it should be filled to capacity shut the water off to the washer. and turn off the power. After you have done that turn the water back on and turn the power back on to the washer if the water stops running it could be your water valve and is easily replaced. if the water continues to run it could be the pressure switch (water level switch) or it could be a hole in the pressure switch hose.

does the water run when you unplug the machine? if so then you have a bad fill valve,

Water won't stop running

It might have a small stone or something similar in the water soleniod valve or it might just be sticking open somewhat. I'd go ahead and change the cold water soleniod valve because it's not closing itself and shutting off the water flow.

dudett, uplug the washer and turn the water valves on. If the washer is filling with the washer unplugged the valve is bad. Part number 22001196. Not a hard job. If you need help installing, just e-mail the cat here at [email protected] Catriver..post back.
