OSD on Sony Bravia

I recently bought a 46" Sony Bravia LCD and Sony AV receiver 910 model to take advantage of the Theatre sync features of the 2 Sony units. They are linked by HDMI cable. I can access the TV's OSD but cannot get the OSD to appear on the TV in order to turn on the Theatre sync feature on the receiver. From reviews on the unit, it appears to be an ongoing problem getting the OSD to show on the TV. Tried to follow the manuals with both units with no luck. The online chat with Sony as a 2 hour waste of time.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Depending on the models of your units, there are some software/firmware upgrades for specific units to adresss this particular problem. Check the Sony website under support to see if any software/firmware upgrades are available.

Also, go to the HDMI menu and make sure the TV is sensing the receiver is connected. There is a "look for devices" choice in the menu. If the device is not found, it could be the connected device, the cable or the TV. I know this isn't much help, but troubleshooting CEC problems is not easy.

Sony has always been very good about the quality products that work well. That has not changed in this case either. The Sony may not be the best AV receiver we've reviewed, but still a very good product. With its unique capabilities in 3D, may be the only option for some people. Since 3D is not the norm but visually, it could justify the opening of a weighting function that exists in the score. Maybe a couple of years from now it will not happen, but until then, Sony will release a newer model and still can not reach the top.http://www.thesonyworld.com/sony-av-rece...

Yes it does per SONY web site:

BRAVIA® Theatre Sync™ technology

Sony® created BRAVIA® Theatre Sync™ to go beyond basic digital audio and video transmission. Based on the HDMI-CEC function, BRAVIA® Theatre Sync™ will be included on select BRAVIA® Theatre home A/V systems and components. This useful function reduces the hassle and time consuming job of powering up, routing signals, etc. to the simple push of one button.8 Want to play your DVD on your Sony® A/V system? Easy, just push PLAY on the BRAVIA® HDTV remote and everything is taken care of for you. Even when the system is off! Want to change from TV sound to digital surround sound through your Sony BRAVIA® Theatre A/V system? Just one push of the Theater Sound button on the remote and voila, surround sound through your system. Want to power down everything once you've finished enjoying it? I bought a new Magnavox LCD HD TV and need an audio system

Their not showin it on this site, but go directly to the Sony site and look up the Sony Bravia DAV-HDX 285 system. Its an awesome inexpensive system (compare to other systems). Features everything you need including the reciever and 5 wireless speakers and 1 wireles woofer. I love the wireless stuff because your not trying to hide wires, it looks nice, and its easy to install. Hope this helps.

How do i hook external speakers to sony bravia television

The proper way to do this would be to use the audio output from the TV, either analogue left and right or the optical port, and send it into an dedicated amplifier or AV receiver. You can then use the amplifier or receiver to power the external speakers. If you are using a dedicated amplifier with no volume control you will want to change the audio output setting on the TV to "variable out" as oppose to its current "fixed out"settings. You can find this in the TV menu, usually under the audio settings. This will allow you to use the current TV remote to adjust the audio volume coming out of the external speakers.

Trouble hooking up sony components..Bravia, Home theatre, blu-ray

Got your post, I will work with the model #s. Get back with you soon. Also a tip for now: HDMI carries true digital video and audio so you may not need the optic cables.
