Looks like you've tried most of the options, my only thoughts are, and I don't intend any insult,
1) Did you swicth the camera on once connected? And have you tried more than one USB port?
2) Assuming you probably did, I'd try to isolate whether its a camera or PC probllem.
Try connecting to a friends or neighbours PC.
If that works you've a PC problem. If it doesn't work you've a camera problem. Try going back to the Ricoh website and see if there's any firmware upgrades for you camera.
need more information to troubleshoot, filmm ? what do you mean, assuming power (charged battery or power adapter) is added to camera, assuming camera is in the proper mode, depending on cpu/ram power of the pc it might take time for the PC to load all of the camera's drivers before you can see any activity, that goes for any peripheral device, if there are too many programs running, it will affect latency activity...
Most unfortunate!
Could it be the cord connecting the camera to the computer? If you have another camera able to use the same cord, you could check that out. Look carefully at the connectors on the ends of the cord for damage or dirt. Also, check the connector on the camera with a magnifying glass and see if any damage appears.
