Wondering if someone can help... when turning on tv (2007 Poloraid HD 1080i flat screen) the picture is black and there is a loud buzzing sound. After about 2 minutes the picture will come up and the buzzing sound will go away. I've replaced the power cord strip w/one that is made to handle large electronics (tv, PS3, Wii ect). Also changed the electronic three prong plugs into two prong plugs to float the ground...saw minor improvement for about a day or two with the picture and buzzing sound but after a few days past sound and picture are still giving problems. Any ideas what might be causing this?

sounds like the lamp or ballast, check the lamp first to see if good, then if good, then probably the ballast is bad, but I think the sound or buzzing is coming from the ballast, so it's should be good.
one of my friends had the same problem and he sent it back to Polaroid and they sent him a new tv. so call Polaroid and see what they say. i think it is a power supply problem. and you don't want to touch that.
This is a well-known problem with many Polaroid FP displays. Eventually, the picture will simply go black, rendering the TV useless. The solution is a new control board, ~$400.
