LE means level error. The water fill timer timed out before there was enough water in the machine to clean the clothes. Try this:
Turn the hot and cold water supply taps, located at the end of the fill hoses, as far as they will go toward the "Open" position.
Move the washing machine away from the wall, and examine the hot and cold water pipes for kinks, twists or other obstructions.
Unscrew the fill hoses at the washing machine, and inspect the small plastic screens inside for signs of an obstruction.
Check the water pressure in your home; a reading lower than 30 psi might cause the fill times to extend beyond the time the washing machine is programmed to wait. Slow flowing faucets and shower heads are a sign of low water pressure.
The error code "LE" appears after an unsuccessful attempt to fill the drum with water that results in the water level being too low to safely begin cleaning. The product manual suggests calling for service, but there are several steps you can take to try to resolve the issue at home.
Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
This is symptomatic of a malfunctioning (not closing completely) water control valve- the hot water one, if the washer is hot and cold fill, and the cold one if it is just cold fill!
Sorry but it needs replacing and a service call ;-0(
Good luck,
John C

The water fill valve - The water fill valve is a mechanical and electrical part, the coils on the valve need electricity to mechanically open the valve to allow the water to flow into the washer....myth....the washer pumps water into itself...no, it does not. The fill valve opens and the house water pressure pushes the water into the washing machine. No cold water or no hot water - The fill valve has two coils, one for the hot water and one for the cold water. It is possible that one of the coils can fail and you loose that filling ability. If the cold water coil quits, the hot will still work and during warm fill you will get hot water only and during a cold fill you will get no water at all. If the hot coils quits, you will still have cold water fill, cold water only on a warm setting and no water on a hot fill setting. If the hot coils quits, you will still have cold water fill, cold water only on a warm setting and no water on a hot fill setting. You can test a fill valve live for 120 volts, power to a fill valve coil and no fill = a bad fill valve. You can also test the coils for continuity, no continuity = a bad fill valve. Some Maytag washers have a fuse in the fill valve circuit, if this fuse let go the washer will not fill. Fill valves can also from time to time stick open and not stop filling. If you have to shut off the fill valves to stop the water from filling in the washer, you have a bad fill valve and you will have to replace it.
if you can turn the washer off while it is still filling. and the water continues to enter the machine you have a bad inlet valve.
Do me a favor turn the washer to fill, with the washer still running unplug from the wall. If the water is still entering the unit you have a bad inlet valve
Littleone.. please check your instructions.. some washers now dont need Hot water connection to them...they heat their own as part of the efficiency settings on the wash programmes themselves!
