Hi,
Saw you anwered similar questions. Maybe you can help me with mine. I broke the battery cover some time ago and didn't use the iPAQ since. I recently purchased a new battery cover. However, the iPAQ won't start. I put it on charger. Nothing lights up. I tried soft reset and hard reset according to the manual. Nothing. Anything else I can try? It was working fine before.
Thanks for your time.
Hello and sorry for the delay.
the h1945 series is a very intresting pda. I have seen all sorts of problems relating this one. There are some things you may want to try. Based on that knoledge I may be able to find what's rong with your unit.
First, check if the back cover fits tight on the back of the unit. It's important because on some ipaq models, there is a small micro-contact that doesn't allow the unit to power on if the back cover isn't attached. I'm not sure if the 1945 has one, it's been 2 years since i've last phisically repaired one of these, but you may look for one yourself. It's a small contact near one side of the back opening, check to see if it can be pressed. If you don't have anything like this just ignore this tip.
Second, leave the pda connected to the charger for about 6 hours. Even if it doesn't do anything. Then try to start the bootloader by pressing the 2 outer keys near the D pad (simillar to the hard reset procedure) then, while keeping those pressed, press the power button and in the same time press the soft reset button with your stylus. You must do this with your charger connected to the pda. It may be difficult to achieve in the first try. Just try to do this a few times and if the pda doesn't respond even now, please post back. Furthermore, if you need more info about these 2 tips please reply.
NOTE: The amber charge light blinks while the battery is recharging and turns solid (nonblinking) when the battery is fully charged. In the event of a low backup battery warning, charge the unit immediately before removing the main battery to avoid data loss. To view the amount of charge left in the backup battery, tap Start, Settings, the System tab, and Power.

NOTE: The amber charge light blinks while the battery is recharging and turns solid (nonblinking) when the battery is fully charged. There are stabilizers located in the universal desktop cradle that assist in aligning the unit when there is no expansion pack attached. Charging with the optional USB Autosync cable Charge the HP iPAQ Pocket PC using the optional USB Autosync cable by connecting the Autosync cable to the HP Pocket PC and the personal computer. The HP Pocket PC will be charged using power from the personal computer.
For more information on charging the HP Pocket PC using the optional USB autosync cable, from the Today screen, tap Start, Settings, the Systemtab, Power, the USB Charging tab, Settings, and Help.
Charging a low battery The HP iPAQ Pocket PC will not turn on if the battery has a low charge (less than 3.2 Volts). Fully charge the battery prior to using the HP Pocket PC.
If the charge on the battery goes below the 3.2 Volts as a result of not being connected to the universal desktop cradle or the AC adapter, no damage will occur to the battery. However, the HP iPAQ Pocket PC charge indicator light will not flash until the battery reaches the minimum charge of 3.2 Volts and a normal reset is performed.
Follow these steps to charge and reset the HP iPAQ Pocket PC:
Keep the HP iPAQ Pocket PC connected to the universal desktop cradle or AC adapter when it is not in use.
- Connect the HP iPAQ Pocket PC to an A/C power supply.
- Charge the battery to the minimum level of 3.2 Volts (this will take 5 to 30 minutes depending on the current charge level).
- Perform a normal reset by using the stylus to lightly press the Reset button on the bottom of the HP iPAQ Pocket PC.
- Turn on the HP iPAQ Pocket PC.

I have the same problem and I followed what you said. I pressed the keys and I got the white hp invent screen with 1.07 at the top and nothing else happened. What was supposed to happen? Is there something else that I need to do?
I had my h1945 in a drawer for about 2 years. It worked last time I used it. Now, it is plugged into the charger and I get no light at all and it won't power up. Tried hard reset, no luck
