Replace your printerhead will do the trick. Had the same issue with my MP980
I received a B200 error on my Canon MP620 recently and the technician said it could not be fixed. As I had nothing to loose, I removed the print head, soaked it in warm water (changing the water frequently until it stayed clear), let it dry overnight and then replaced it. I then went to the 'maintenance' section and performed all the cleaning items shown. Voila! My printer is now working. Hope you have the same success.
I just had the same problem and for me the solution was to press all the buttons to release one that was stuck. The printer started working just like that.
I just got that message because my ink wasn't moving across its runner when the printer started up, I just gave it a little push and that seems to have fixed it.

Hi,
This error is related to the Print head of your printer.
I recommend getting in contact with Canon to activate the warranty (if it's still under warranty) or getting it replaced. They usually are not expensive and may very well be cheaper than a new printer.
Do you have their number?
Hope i was of any help. If so, please rate me.
Thank you.
