Epson cx7400 ink cartridge problem

I have an epson cx7400 and have been using refillable ARC cartridges for 1 year now,but suddenly it stopped recognizing the cyan cartridge. I bought a new generic cyan cartridge but the printer still wont recogniz it.
All the other 3 cartridges are ok....
Any idea what to do?
is there any way to continue printing without the cyan....like disable something?

Printer manufacturers do not want folks to use cartridges that have been refilled and they deliberately design their printers to not work with refills. If you get a generic refill you have to make sure that they have taken measures to counteract what Epson has programmed into their printers.
Chalk up the experience to GREED - they want you to use their grossly over priced inks - that is where they make their money! Check in Google for work a rounds this nonsense.

SOURCE: Epson rx580 printer

I just started calling Epson's customer service line every time. They always offered to FEDEX new ink. I got tired of waiting for it to come and began returning bad cartridges to office depot where I had bought it and found out that they will take it back if it doesn't work. Now I've decided that some (a lot) of Epson's ink cartridges for the RX580 are bad and that I just have to keep trying until I get ink cartridges that work. I had tried the qtip cleaning, checking the ink/sensor connection, and making sure I had them snapped in tight. I've finally figured out it IS the ink. BTW, I always use the ink Epson reccomends, so it is definately that many of their cartridges are faulty. It's a pain to have to return them but as long as I can return and replace them and eventually have a machine that will print when I need it to, I can live with that.

SOURCE: Epson Stylus CX7400 Ink Light Problem

You need to open up the maintenance window and go thru the motions that you are changing the cartridges and this resets the ink levels back to full and sends data to the printer saying that they are full and the ink light disappears and it prints fine !!!

Just changing them doesn't seem to do the trick like on a lot of printers

I just replaced all 4 ink cartridges with non-Epson. The jobs in the buffer printed fine, but then with the next new job I got a pop up that said non-Epson ink will cause problems. I've used these...

Epson have regularly tried to bully people into only using their inks. They do not seem to understand that whilst people moan about the cost of fuel for their car, the general public would be up in arms if they had to pay around 1,000 times their current fuel cost per litre - which is approximately what Epson ink costs, so of course users want to get better workable value from their cartridges - and at lower cost. It's even cheaper to use refillable cartridges, the advantage then for high end users is they can choose to use independent high quality archival inks that more than compete (often exceed) Epson's own quality standards. As long as your printer keeps working - ignore the messages. Clearly the cartridges you have been using satisfy your requirements - so keep them coming.

I replaced all of the cartridges with Epson, but the black won't print. After some nozzle checks, black is getting low and STILL no black printing occurring... what going on? Now the other colors are...

Nozzle cleaning uses a lot of ink, that's probably why the other ink cartridges are registering low on ink. Are you using refilled cartridges or brand new? Also, have you had the cartridges for awhile? I've found that the nozzles can become clogged either from not using the printer for awhile or because it's a recycled cartridge that didn't have the nozzles cleaned before it was refilled. When that happens, unfortunately, sometimes it takes a lot of cleaning cycles before the printing comes back. Let me know more about the cartridges you have.

Head cleaning not working

Doesnt sound like you Used Genuine Cartirdges?

Did you use Epson Genuine Cartridges? ALL…. Epson & Brother Requires Genuine Cartridges. !!!!!!!!
That sounds like your problem.

In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. I also Purchased a Brother MFC-240C All-In-One InkJet Printer. That also does not like Generic Print Cartridges. Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, Blue Brown, etc.

These printers have a CHIP that will detect if it is Generic or Genuine. When they see it’s Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors. It also will not let you print anything, if only one of the cartridges is empty.

I wanted to print only Black, and would not let me, because I did not have any ink in one of my cyan cartridges. Go figure.

That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, and some are refillable. Some you can refill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.

So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. Some people say some models work fine compatible, but not mine.......

I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. .

IF YOU ARE USING GENERIC CARTRIDGES, MAYBE IT WOULD BE BETTER IF YOU DISABLE THE INK MONITOR.

This is the only advice I can give you.

The next step would be to disassemble the Epson, and clean the Pads/Heads. Click on link below.:
