I am trying to remember how to change the gray bars on the sides of my screen while viewing my Broksonic CCVG-4500 42 inch plasma in full screen mode for non HD channels.

Before taking this to a local repair person, I suggest you check with your cable provider. See if they are having trouble with their HD transmission and then have them test your lines. Out here in Arizona with have constant problems with HD due to heat, rodents and poor installations. Your DVR only recorded the problems that were on your set. If these prove fruitless then take the TV to a reputable repair person.

There may be a problem with the internal power supply of the TV. A blown, leaking or swollen capacitor perhaps. Check also for burnt parts. The power supply circuit is the first circuit after the power chord. If there are none found, inspect the rest of the circuit.
