Sony BRAVIA KDL-52W3000 52 in. LCD Television Logo
Anonymous Posted on Apr 25, 2010

When we turn on the tv, the left side of the screen has a double vision/temporary burning of multiple images on the screen. This lasts 15-30 minutes. We called Sony and were advised to contact a TV repair shop in our area (no extended warranty and the tv is now 3 years old) and after $280 they STILL have no clue what's wrong with our TV! From the look of the web sites we've come across in our search for a solution, this appears to be a common problem and these TV's should be recalled or repaired at Sony's expense. Has anyone had this problem successfully diagnosed and repaired?

Sony ADMITTED to us that they are fully aware of the problem; that's why they extended the original warranty. It's, apparently, according to their customer service department, unfortunate for us that our televisions didn't 'show symptoms' of the problem until after the warranties expired. We wrote to the local office AND to the corporate office in NYC; no response. We will NEVER, EVER purchase another Sony product EVER. These people are fully aware that they sold us a junk tv and could care less that it only lasted 3 years. We wouldn't have spent $2800 on a tv for only 3 years of use. We have gone to every website, including Amazon.com, that would allow us to 'review' the tv and slammed Sony by telling the truth about this defect that they refuse to fix. Unless you want to spend $3000 to repair your tv, it's actually cheaper to buy a new one.

We will tell you that after being on for an hour or so, it WILL recover but even that will stop eventually. Sometimes if we let the tv warm up and press on the upper left corner of the frame it'll fix it too. The problem is the adhesive. It's terrible. Don't waste your money.

We're looking for as many people as possible to complain about this so Sony's reputation will be what it deserves to be; they're a junk dealer.

    Good luck.

Yes I also Have the same problem. I am very disappointed because we saved all our vacation money and used it to buy this TV. Only lasted three years right after the warrenty was over this TV decided to start acting up. I will never purchase a Sony product again. SONY knew about this problem and should have discontinued this item.

I think 80% is the panel, and other 20% maybe the t-con board or LVDS cable. rock the cable or cool down the t-con to test it.

Testimonial: "We had sent it out to a repair shop and was told that, after replacing the board, it WAS the panel..which is $3000 for the part and $300 for the labor"

First you can see SonyStyle Extended Warranty information

    http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stor...

hopefully it can solve your problem.

The t-con board is not available at Sony, replace the whole panel includes the t-con cost approx $2300.

If you buy a t-con board from other seller, be sure it match with your panel’s model, otherwise it will not work.

The LVDS cable and the FB1 board could cause this problem too.

FB1 board cost approx $280~380 (NEED THE SERIAL NUMBER OF THE UNIT FOR THE FB1 BOARD ASSY

***A-1362-638-A FOR SERIAL NUMBERS: ALL UNITS HAS SERIAL FROM 8000001 TO 8099999 and 8500001 TO 8599999 ONLY

***A-1419-002-A FOR SERIAL NUMBERS: ALL UNITS HAS SERIAL FROM 8100001 TO 8499999 and 8600001 AND UP ONLY).

    Parts reference: Andrews electronics, 800 289 0300.

Have the Same Problem with mine. It's 3 years old.

Ours is 3 years old, as well. We let a tv repair company take it...they had it for 3 weeks, charged us almost $400 and then told us they had NO idea what it was. They changed the t-con board out and everything. We're thinking about having another company give it a shot. There was a man that posted that his started showing this problem while his was still under warranty and that he had sent the tv back to Sony and that he would post the results but never did. We found a lot of people *on the internet* complaining about the same problem with this particular tv...we can't believe that Sony hasn't figured out the problem and issued some kind of repair order. It stinks that our expensive tv is broken and no one can figure out how to fix it...and it happened RIGHT out of warranty! If we can get ours fixed for less than 1/2 the cost of a new one, we will post the repair results..if not, we'll let it blow up and buy another...but I can promise you it WILL NOT BE A SONY!!! Good luck.

Many people think that big companies charge very high, but it is not, I recommend you call Bestbuy, they could help you. And if you gave me the model #, I can give you a estimate.

[email protected]___ mine has the same problem and i am totally disgusted!! i spent 2800.00 for a sony so it would last and give me years and years of good service. this issue should be taken care of by sony, give us all new tv's and if they dont lets get a law suit together with all of us buyers and sue them, if your in contact me at [email protected]

SAME HERE!!! Bought March 2008. KDL 52 w3000. We are so distraught, especially because we thought we we're buying "top-of-the-line" being Sony. And that our investments would last for many many years...not 3!!!!
For now, since I am unwilling to pay 2 grand to repair, I played with the menu, picture display...changed it to custom and maxed out the brightness and white balance and made the picture smaller "standard" so we can kind of see a half-quality image!!!!
I am so dissapointed with Sony and will NEVER purchase their brand again!!! Walmart he we come...

Does prolonged pausing of a Samsung LCDTV cause any problems with the screen/TV?

There may be a temporary residule image left on the screen but it should disappear within a few minutes. LCD screens do not "burn in" an image like the older Plasma's would.

Video burn

Unfortunately, there is no fix for burn in on Plasmas. There is image retention, which is like temporary burn in, but it goes away within minutes of normal viewing. If this won't go away, there is no real fix.
