Hi: I have a Diamond TV and it will turn on with the remote and the TV button for about 3 seconds and then it will turn off on it's own, I have tried it several times and it reacts the same every time. I have checked the TV electrical cable , the power bar and even plugged it into the wall outlet, nothing changes it. Any suggestions !

This is an easy one for me. you have bad capacitors on your power board. i have fixed this a few times and it isnt a big problem but it does need to be sent in or if you dont have a warranty and want to fix it yourself with a little know how you can reclaim your tv, but only if you are confident you know what you are doing

I am having the same problem with the "initial setup" screen flashing repeatedly/ intermittently. It's not a problem with the remote. In the research I have done online, it seems as though this is a common/known problem with the Wegas that will require a service visit. Apparently the problem is a defective receiver chip. The best thread I found is at: http://www.agoraquest.com/viewtopic.php?topic=15393&forum=34&start=0&select_page_number=1 I've seen some speculation that it is caused by windex or cleaning fluid dripping down when the screen is cleaned and corroding one of the internal components. That's not applicable in my case, since I always just clean the screen with a microfiber dusting cloth. So, I guess I will be calling a repairman and spending $$$ to fix as it is now flashing up so often as to be unwatchable. Ridiculous, I think, given that my TV is only 3 years old!!
SOURCE: TV won't turn on
I am having problems turning on the tv. I had lost the remote control so I bought a universal remote which was not working at the time I unpluged the tv form the powersocket then I tryed to turn on the tv the green power light stays on for a few seconds then it blinks two times then there isn't a power light on after that what is wrong

You need to replace the 1000uf capacitors on the DM board thats the classic symptom of the DM caps being bad the light continues to blink repeatedly. If you need more info on the repair let me know.

The 5 blink code indicates a loss of video. This could be as simple as bad connections on the main board or a couple of defective transistors. In many cases the parts cost is $5-$25. Add in the local labor rate for the total repair cost.

Don't buy Sony products...customer service was horrible. I got more information and help from this website than Sony
