It could be the rear drum bearing going out or the rear drum rollers going bad or the roller wheels beginning to flatspot or the front rollers in the same shape, you would need to remove the front cover on the unit by removing the lower kick panel screws, then remove the top cover and removing the drum belt, then remove the drum from the machine to examine all the above issues noted

DRYER MAKES NOISES.

A loose or worn BELT can make funny noises

Or the idler pulley that puts tension on the dryer drum drive belt could be worn out. If the pulley is bad we recommend also replacing the belt.

The glides on drum worn and making metal to metal contact.

The drum slides or glides support the front of the drum. As the drum rotates over the years, the glides wear out and then the dryer makes noise. Replace all of the glides as a set if they are worn out.

CHECK FOR LOOSE BELLOES inside the drum

Sometimes an item can get stuck inbetween the drum and the housing and scrape and grind making funny noises, things like coins, bra wire, nails, hair pins, etc sometimes u can just remove the cabinet and observe by turning the drum by hand or looking for scratch or scrape marks on housing.

The blower:

Clumps of lint, socks, and other small articles of clothing can get past the lint filter and into the blower wheel. If the dryer makes noise, and the noise seems to be at a very fast pace, there might be something caught in the blower wheel. In addition, the blower wheel sleeve might be worn out, allowing the blower wheel to wobble on the motor shaft. If this happens, replace the blower wheel.

The bearings:

The drum bearing supports the rear of the dryer drum. If the dryer makes noise this bearing might be worn out. Replace the bearing if it is worn out. Do not lubricate the bearing, the lubrication will attract lint and dirt and accelerate the wearing process.

The bearings TEST by moving drum by hand u may be able to feel loose or rough movement. And listen to sounds when turning it.

The drum rollers or castors:

It is very common for dryer drum rollers to wear out. If the dryer makes noise, particularly a loud rumbling noise, one or more of the rollers may be worn out. After removing the drum from the dryer, inspect the rollers.

Check for cracks, dryness, or damage and not engaging drum properly. Sometimes u can use high density LITHIUM BASE gear grease to re oil/grease them.

Dryer Repair Squeaks, Grinding, Clicking and Knocking Noise

Your dryer has started making noises. The common noises that can happen are squeaks, grinding, bumping, clicking, or knocking. I will give some of the common reasons why your clothes dryer could be making these noises.

Loud noise from your dryer often is the result of excessive wear of the parts inside of the clothing dryer.

Many dryers use a type of glides or slide for the drum of the dryer to ride on. As the dryer heats then up they wear away. The heat from the inside of the dryer and the friction heat will eventually wear them down. When the glide material is worn away the metal of the drum will start to rub against the metal support behind the glide. Metal on metal will make a very irritating squeaking noise, or grinding noise. If this happens, replace the glides.

Other dryers use a type of wheel or roller to support the rotating drum. These rollers turn on a sort of bearing that in often no more then a pin through a bushing. After a period of time the lubrication will dry up or otherwise go away and the assembly will quickly wear out and start to make a clicking noise, or a knocking noise, or even a grinding noise. In any case these often make a loud noise that can be very annoying. If you have a wheel or roller that is making noises then replace all of them, because the others are soon going to go bad also.

On some dryers there is a rear drum bearing. This center spindle supports the drum instead of rollers, wheels, or glides. This spindle will have a bearing assembly of some type that it spins on. This bearing also may start to squeak, grind, or make a loud noise.
If you have this type of dryer then you can replace this when it goes bad.

Another source of dryer noise is the belt. The belt often will make a different noise that will be more of a knocking or thumping noise. Pieces of the belt may come out of the belt and it still is not broken. As the gaps in the belt run over the idler pulley or the drive pulley the belt will make a thumping or knocking noise.

The idler pulley can also be a source of noise. This also has a bearing in it that will wear out. The noises made from this are similar to the rollers or wheels. If you have these kinds of noises coming from your dryer, you need to figure out what the exact cause of the problem is so that you know you are changing the right parts. Or you can just change all of the rotating parts to make sure that you get the problem fixed. The parts involved are not that expensive to replace.

Finally the blower wheel that moves air through your dryer can become clogged with dirt and lint or just plain wear out. If it is loose or out of balance it will make all kinds of funny noises. Cleaning it may help but replacement is probably the best fix. If it is still noisy after cleaning, then replace it.

This should give you a good overview of the possible causes for noise from your clothes dryer. As you can see there are numerous possibilities or causes for noise. Take your time and eliminate them one by one till the cause is found. Repairing them is not that hard and the parts are not that costly.

Really Bad Squeeky Noise

It could be a squeal from the dryer belt. It could be from a belt that has gotten loose, like you hear on a car sometimes when it first starts up, but usually they don't get loose. They just break. Maybe something has gotten jammed between the dryer drum and the interior of the dryer making it hard for the belt to turn the drum and so it is squealing. Does the drum turn by hand without too much force and without squealing?

Crusader tumble dryer

Many dryer drums ride on wheels that look like kids scooter wheels. There are usually 3 of them. One or more may be bad. Also, look carefully at the belt that goes around the drum. It may be fraying and causing the noise.
