Self cleaning does not work

Kitchen Aid " Superba" self cleaning electric range.

When starting the self cleaning cycle for the oven, the door lock and after about 1 minute an error msg appears. It says FS:E1. What does it mean and what can be done to fix this problem.
We pressed the clear button and the door did not unlock by itself, it needed a little bit of help to release the lock so we could open the oven door.
The oven works properly.

Does anyone have an idea of what might be the problem?

I hope to get some kind help, I don't really wants to call the service tech for this.

For my problem about the self cleaning not working the code is F5:E1 which is "the self cleaning latch won't make" it is out of the troubleshooting book. The field service action ask to "check the latch system" How do you check the latch system?

The E1- F5 error is a door lock error.

The control (TIMER) has likely failed in this instance - BUT...

Sometimes when you disconnect power to a range and reconnect it the electronic range control gets confused.
You should disconnect power again for 15 seconds and reconnect and see if that helps.

If it doesn't cure the E1- F5 error hold the bake button in until E0- F2 appears in the display.
This is the error for a stuck button on the keypad and is the way to clear the memory of the electronic range control.

Sometimes these work, but if the control has failed it won't make any difference.

GE PS950SF1SS, self clean no longer works for either oven. After starting self clean door will lock but the self clean cycle shuts off after 30 seconds, same for either oven

The self clean function is a way for the makers to get revenue from broken parts and lulling you into thinking you get a clean oven. The typical things to break are elements, fans, door locks and control boards. Your either has a broken lock and isn't passing the self check, or the control board has failed. The temperature is just too harsh. If the oven works, get a can of Easy Off. If you want to use the feature, you will need to get a service

Kitchen aid gas range KGRS807, 901 or 907

The only time that the oven door should be locked is during the internal "Self Cleaning Cycle," due to the high temperatures used. Make sure that the display does not indicate that the oven is not in it's self-cleaning cycle, and try wiggling the door slightly to see if you can dislodge the sticking lock pin.

Gas range oven door with not open

Your self cleaning cycle is running. When self cleaning is running the door is automatically locked and will not unlock until the self cleaning cycle completes or self cleaning is turned off. You should be able to just turn off the self cleaning cycle and the door will unlock. Do not try to pry open the oven door. You will just damage the door and/or the catch.

Can not open the door of the self- cleaning electric Range after cleaning operation

Unplug the unit or shut off the circuit breaker for 5 minutes. Plug the unit back in or turn on the circuit breaker. Set the clock and gently try moving the door lock lever (is so equipped) or opening the door.
or
Set the self-clean cycle again and only allow it to work for 15 minutes. Cancel the self-clean cycle and allow the oven to cool. Gently try moving the door lock lever (is so equipped) or opening the door.
If these procedures fail to correct the condition, the lock must usually be accessed and moved manually to open the door.
Some model ovens require the oven door to be manually unlatched before the controls are returned to the OFF position or else the door may not be able to be unlocked. Check the owner's manual for proper operating procedures

If the lock is engaged, is the oven in a self cleaning cycle? If so, cycle power to the oven, that should cancel the self cleaning cycle.
