turn on/off, unplug, plug in, should reset configs.

go to applications folder for your computer, dbl click printer icon for make of printer. check settings. print 'test document and clean cartridge heads', this should ensure proper printing formats.

lastly, go to web site of printer model and check site for trouble shooting if this does not work above. HP has an awesome trouble shooting site
hope this helps and good luck

SOURCE: HP Deskjet 5740 printer both orange lights are blinking and wont print

  • I replaced both carts with HP brand, no joy.
  • I cleaned the cart/printer connections, no joy.
An interesting aside is that if one or the other cart is removed, the appropriate LED goes out and the other blinks. At least some of the sensing circuitry sees the cart.

Anyone have a schematic of the cart/printer electronics?

SOURCE: inserted new cartridges..orange light still on

Try re-seating the ink cartridges. A lot of times, the electrical contacts on HP's ink cartridges do not make a solid connection.

SOURCE: 1320c Dell Printer has blinking orange error

This took me some time to find, and "the oracle" was of little assistance. However, if you visit the following link:
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/prn1320c/en/ug/1320c_en/section18.htm
and search for
"Clean the CTD sensor"
The solution provided worked for me.
If you still receive the error after trying this, open the side door (where the toner is) and hold the reset button down in the back until the unit turns off. Then hold the continue and cancel buttons while releasing the reset button. The unit will flash all lights after about five seconds at which point you can release the buttons. Then, close the door to the toner area.
Viola, I hope.

Originally the black ink would not print. replaced, primed, cleaned. nothing, the same problem, no black ink. Now I can't get the cartridge light to quite blinking. It is not steady orange, but a...

First off, if you touched the metal contacts on the printer or cartridge, you could damage or leave a film on the contact surface. Take it out of the printer, with a qtip dip in rubbing alcohol, squeeze out access, rub surfaces, air dry, and reinsert again. If still no ink, turn the print end up under the very hot water tap and run for 2 minutes. Dry and replace. It may do the trick.

Reset. Orange light blinks several times. Then Green. Then orange several times, then... on and on. Cannot reset. All ink cartridges have ink.

count the number of orange flashes in between the green light. two flashes = out of paper, 3=paper jam, 4=empty ink tank, 6=print head not installed, 7=print head defective, 8=waste ink tank is almost full

the moving ink frame is probably pointing to a symbol such as replace color ink( three dots on ink cartridge picture). Replace color ink. You are probably printing your black and white documents with colored ink--always select black or greyscale.

Tank absorber full and lights blinking

The POWER Lamp Flashes Orange Eight flashes: Waste ink tank almost full
The printer has a built-in waste ink tank for the ink used during print head cleaning. Eight flashes indicates that the waste ink tank is nearly full. Press the RESUME/CANCEL button to cancel the error so you can continue printing. Before the waste ink tank becomes completely full, contact a Canon service representative.

Note
Canon recommends that you call for service as soon as this error occurs. Once the waste ink tank becomes completely full, printing will no longer be possible.
