No sound after I change the channel on Vizio. If I turn the TV off, then back on, sound is ok. Using Verizon FIOS
There is an incompatibility between Fios and Vizio audio. To fix the problem, on the Fios box, press "Power" then "Select" then "Menu", one right after the other. This accesses a secret menu on the Fios box. Using the arrow keys on the front of your Fios box, arrow down to "Additional HDMI Settings" then press the right arrow. Another menu will appear (may take a few seconds). Arrow down to "Audio Out" and press the right arrow to change from "Auto" to "L-PCM". Press the Power button to exit the menu. This should solve your problem. Thanks to Vizio tech support for the answer.
I am experiencing the exact same issue with Verizon Fios and my Vizio 37 inch SV370XVT and tried to execute the "power" then "select" then "menu" steps to get to the secret menu. Since there is only an "OK" button on the actual box (as opposed to a "select" and/or "menu" button), I pressed "power" then "ok" twice. This took me to "Diagnostic Menu" and gave the following options - none of which are the "Additional HDMI Settings":
d01 General Status
d02 Purchase/Poll Status
d03 OOB Status
d04 Inband Status
d05 Unit Address/Security
d06 Current Channel Status
d07 Upstream Status
d08 Code Modules
d09 Memory Config
d10 Audio/Video Status
d11 Interface/Port Status
d12 User Setting Status
d13 DVR/HDD Status
d14 Application Specific Information
d15 Interactive Status
d16 Connected Home
d17 Keypad/LED
E Exit
I figured that the d10 option "Audio/Video Status" was the closest, so I selected that option. I did not see any options here to change any "Audio Out," or any of the other options for that matter, so I decided to comment on this post. Here is what appears on the "Audio/Video Status" scree n just in case this helps:
SPDIF: Dolby Digital LFE: 0
Audio Mute: On
Video Mute: Muted
Captions Detected: 608
608 Default Primary Lang
Digital Subtitles Status
Enabled: No ISO Lang: eng
Enhanced: No Rendered: no
PiP Focus: N/A
Output Format NTSC
Input Source N/A
ADP Lock: N/A
Audio Mode: N/A
VP Lock: N/A
Input format: N/A
Can you please help?
You have NO IDEA how much this helped me. I had the exact same issue
Just figured out that in order to access this FiOS Secret Menu on the newer Verizon FiOS box, you must press 'Power' followed by 'OK' both on the box itself, and then press 'Menu' on the FiOS remote. This will take you the Secret Menu with the "Additional HDMI Settings" option. Otherwise, if you press "Power" then "OK" twice on the box itself, you get to the Diagnostics Menu which is of no help. Phew - thanks for the original post tester527! HUUUUGE help!
@aztimmy805..... Do you have to hold the 'OK' button on the STB while you press the 'Menu' button on the FIOS remote? Please give me step by step instructions. Is the TV on? Do you press the 'Power' button on the STB to power off the STB or to power on the STB.
Thank you for your help
