Please check in the manual provided which regions disc your Blue ray disc player can play. Check the same region code at the back cover of the Blue Disc you want to play. If it is same there is no problem in playing but if it is other than the one your player can play, it won't read or play. Try to get Discs which have all regions marked on them

Phillips BDP5100 not play BD (unknown disc) but DVD read and play no problem How can i do pls Help me ????

The player detects that the discs contains unauthorized copies of movie titles.

The disc is with a new format which is not yet supported by the player. Some newly released Blu-ray titles in the market apply new disc format which did not exist when the player was manufactured. This leads to playability problem with these discs. This is not a defect of the player and can possibly be solved by firmware upgrade.
The Philips technical team is constantly working on the firmware development to enable the player to play such discs. Installing the latest firmware in your player helps to ensure optimal playback performance. Please visit the support website of your player regularly to check out new firmware release.
Before you update, read the Firmware Upgrade Readme File on the Software and Drivers page. It contains information on playability resolution on discs of particular movie titles.

If the latest firmware is installed in the player and only one disc can't be played, there may be some problems with the disc. It may be defective/scratched.
Another possibility is that the lens of the player is dirty. Try cleaning the disc and the lens with a lens cleaning kit which is available at electronics stores

Sony 5 disc cd player won't play 5 cds but plays just 1 disc

Check the mode of operation. There can be a setting where it just plays one disc. Random or mixed will give you more songs to get to other discs.

Vizio vbr210 error 11000404 How do I update firmware to watch newer blu ray movies?

I had the same problem -- we even returned the disc and got a new one. Go to the Vizio site and download the firmware for your player. Put it on a USB stick and plug it into the player. Follow the onscreen instructions (basically just press OK). The entire process takes less than 5 minutes from download to finish.

The Hunger Games works perfectly now.

My BDP S550 was working playing most blurays. The other day I put the original release avatar bluray in and it came up as disc unknown, which had worked before. Now no blurays work in my bluray player...

If nothing is playing, you either have a dirty lens or it's out of alignment and will need service. Try a DVD lens cleaner that uses fluid, they usually cost 20 or so and can be purchased just about anywhere these days. If it still won't play, it's a service issue and needs repair/replacement, depending on cost. Get an estimate first. Hope the cleaner works!!!

My 2 1/2 year old LG dvd/vcr recorder will play some dvds but will not play others. It says unknown disc. I was told to try a lens cleaner; I bought one and the lens cleaner says unknown disc as well. ...

Hi,

Your DVD /VCR says unknown disc because the
dvd which you have inserted is not of the supported format by player.

If you insert unsupported formats only it will say as unknown disc. This is not related with disc cleaners.

Please insert the supported formats and it will play the disc.

Thanx

Follow the steps below to troubleshoot if the BD player cannot read or play a disc:

1. Ensure the Easy Setup procedure has been completed on the BD player.

NOTE: Can't play DISC may display on the LCD screen if the Easy Setup procedure was not completed first.
2. Ensure the inserted disc is compatible with the BD player.

NOTE: Consult the instruction manual of the BD player for a list of compatible discs.Manuals are available online through the Manuals/Specs/Warranty link on this page.
3. Select BD players may require that a USB memory device has been properly inserted into the EXT slot of the player prior to playing the movie. If the BD player being used does not have an EXT input, skip this step.

NOTE: The USB memory device may need to be re-formatted to FAT32 format prior to inserting it into the player.
4. Use a soft cloth to clean the disc.
5. Examine the disc for any cracks or scratches that might be interfering with playback.
6. Attempt to play another disc.

NOTE: If another disc plays in the player, then the previous disc may be faulty. In this case, contact the Customer Information Service Center at 800-222-7669 to speak with a customer service representative for further troubleshooting.
7. Remove the disc from the BD player.
8. Turn off the BD player.
9. Unplug the power cord of the BD player from the electrical outlet.
10. Let the player remain without power for 1 minute.
11. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
12. Turn on the BD player.
13. Insert the disc into the BD player.
14. Attempt to play the disc.

If the issue is not resolved even after performing these steps, then try installing the latest Firmware update if you have not done yet.
