Plays some won't play others firmware is up to date says unknown or cannot operate this disc
Please check in the manual provided which regions disc your Blue ray disc player can play. Check the same region code at the back cover of the Blue Disc you want to play. If it is same there is no problem in playing but if it is other than the one your player can play, it won't read or play. Try to get Discs which have all regions marked on them

If the issue persists
after installing the firmware update, the would have been with the disc. Check
the disc with another player, try different discs with same player.
If the Blu-ray Player is
not at all playing any Blu-ray disc including the previous played ones, then it may require service.
