Can't find a manual for this Pioneer DEH-P440 anywhere; I'm trying to enable the AUX input so I can listen to my ipod. I think I have tried *EVERYTHING*, there must be a special procedure. SOURCE is either CD or FM1, FM2, FM3, or AM. I need to enable AUX input. Pioneer does not have this manual online. This deck came with the car I bought. It rocks, but I need just a little more. It has the 12 pin connector on the back so I know I SHOULD be able to run an auxiliary device but this is NFG until I can enable the AUX setting. Any ideas? I'm thinking if I can't find the manual where I can figure out how to do this, I might as well break down and get a more updated deck (with a manual!) FUNCTION will bring up RANDOM (ON/OFF), REPEAT(ON/OFF), PAUSE(ON/OFF), and something called T-SCAN (ON/OFF), but nothing else. Still no AUX. I tried this with power OFF, then holding down FUNC, then turning ON, no change. Tried this method all sorts of different ways. I also can program the CD title into the unit this way, but that's not what i wanna do. SOURCE button same thing. DISPLAY, AUDIO, BAND buttons, same thing. Anyone have a manual for this model? Thanks. Please don't send me a link to a website you yourself haven't checked because I've probably been there already, and I still need one.
Ok, i dug up my old manual and i guess i was wrong,
straight from the book:
1 Press FUNCTION to select AUX.
Press FUNCTION repeatedly until AUX appears
in the display.
2 Select AUX on or off with ^/v.
Pressing ^/v will switch AUX between on and
off and that status will be displayed (e.g.,
AUX :ON).
and as for t-scan: T-Scan play lets you hear the first 10 seconds of each track on the CD.

hit the 'source' button.
you might have to turn aux on first, in that case, turn the deck off, hold down.... fuction then turn it on.

The SOURCE button holds 2 properties:
1-quickly pressing it changes the source: from fm 1 to fm2; to fm3; to am; to cd; and then cycles all over again (AUX is supposed to be in there somewhere, but I need to enable it first)
2-HOLDING down the SOURCE button powers the unit off.
Hold it down again, it powers it back up.
So, if I do what you say, to turn it off, I hold down the SOURCE button to power down, then power it back up. This still does nothing with the AUXILIARY.
(There is no SETTINGS button)
Thanks anyway.
There are plenty of menu options, such as changing the equalizer settings, fade, balance, pause, random, repeat, but NOWHERE does AUX (ON/OFF) show up. THAT is what I need to get to.
P.S. I also come acorss something called T-SCAN... wtf is that?
My deck must be bad, because I still cannot access the AUX function at all. I have that procedure for the DEH-P4400R manual, which I downloaded, but I could not get this method to work for me, so I thought it must be different for this model somehow.
Odd how everything ELSE works fine. Great stereo otherwise. Thanks again.
Hey, good news, uno_1! I was able to finally get it to work. The trick to it was: The unit must be POWERED OFF to get the FUNC key to access AUX option. I could not find anywhere in the manual I have where it mentions this critical info. My auxiliary is now enabled. I now have another world of mobile music to enjoy thanks to you. Appreciate it!
Hello, i used to have this unit... and from what i can remember, turn it off, then hold down on the source (or "settings" cant fully remember) until it turns on and pulls up the menu... let me know if that worked, i remember it being a real pain whenever my battery died to turn aux on...
