Computers use video files such as AVI, WMV, MPG etc.

DVD players use VOB video files, and will not recognise the computer video files.

Unfortunately, Windows Moive Maker cannot create VOB files - you will need another piece of software to convert the WMV file Windows Movie Maker creates to a VOB.

A lot of disc burning programs (e.g. Nero) include video converters. See if you've already got one on you computer.

If not, try Googling 'WMV to VOB'. There's quite a few free ones out there.

Hope this helps,

Matt

Use DVD creation software. Also make sure that disc is "clised" after recording. You can try to burn disc on slowest possible speed since some older dvd players may problem reading certain recordable discs

I can burn movies onto my pc & make a cd ,they don't work

it's because you are using cd to burn the movies on to and not dvd. your dvd will only read movies from dvd. I know it seems like if you put movies on a cd it should read in a dvd player, but since its not on dvd disk, then it will not play.

Windows movie maker will not burn to DVD. Says to

As you may be aware, Movie Maker doesn't natively burn DVDs. Or Video CDs (VCDs), which are playable by any DVD Players, but are of significantly lower quality than DVD.
What do you need to into DVD? How about MyDVD is the easiest and direct route, requiring little or no format conversion.

DVD movies not playing but CD-ROM games and CD's do?

With the disk inserted, 1) double-click on MyComputer, 2) right-click on the DVD, and select Auto Play from the resulting menu; a window will appear, 3) click on your favorite DVD playing software and 4) check the little box below to do the same every time you insert a movie (as it used to be).

VGC-RB30 DVD/CDR DRIVE

You actually perhaps using a non blank disc at that time. Burners don't really accept non writeable Discs. Check your CD first before burning. If you are using a rewriteable disc (CD-rw) that has files, it can burn and files will be overwritten but if you're just using a CD-r with files in it, the burner will eject and will tell you to insert a blank disc.

Cannot backup files to a cd/dvd

we may need more details but you can try this for now

1. are you sure you have a cd writer or a dvd writer (writer = burner)--- check the front edge of your cd/dvd unit and look for words like "writer" "burner" or writeable next to the word dvd or compact disc... keep in mind not all cd/dvd writer can write (burn) cd or dvds, some may burn cd but not dvds.

2. is your cd/dvd unit compatible with the media (cd or dvd blank disk) you are trying to use.. depending your cd/dvd especifications your dvd/cd drive is compatible with certain types of cd or dvds that are writeable.

3. is the cd/dvd a writeable cd/dvd and is compatible with your cd/dvd drive? for instance.. if you are using a blank dvd and your cd/dvd drive only burn cd/s and read dvd and cd you won't be able to write to the blank dvd.

4. are you trying to burn a dvd in a corporate computer.?? as a user (not an administrator) of your corporate computer you may not have priviledges that will allow them to burn dvd/cd's even you your drive and your media are compatible.

please post
the error that you get
the brand and model of the computer you're using
the type of media you're using

Please insert a disk into drive

You can only copy files to a blank disk by using programs like NERO or by using a re-writeable disk like DVD-RW which you can format and use it like a hard drive. You need also burner not an ordinary DVD or CD player.
