How do you remove the timer knob for a kitchenaide Model washer KAWE677BW1

Eventually you will conclude that the cycle timer is defective.

It unscrews or if it is a newer model, remove the console so you can tip it forward. You will see a (usually black or white) pin in the center of the timer, pull it out about and inch and then remove the knob from the front by pulling it off the timer shaft. Check you new timer and make sure it comes with one. So did some did not. Good luck.

Assuming that you have the metal timer, You'll need to remove the timer knob. The easiest way is to hold the metal shaft that passes through the timer with a thin needle nosed pliers while un-screwing the knob.

Once the knob is off, it's a simple matter to unplug the connectors and remove the bolts holding the timer to the console.

its very well descised you have to pop out the middle plastic part in the middle of the knob behind it you will find a small clamp from there its easy sailing

It sounds like there is a dead spot in the timer. The timer is the control device behind the large knob on the right. The timer part number for you machine is 3955761 and runs about $150.00 for the part.

The shaft go'es all the way thru the timer on most and you can keep it from spinning there.

Unscrew the knob counter-clockwise.

If there is a black tab on the back of the timer, it needs to be pulled out of the timer before you can remove the knob

The timer knob on the front of the panel have to be removed. It unscrews, counterclockwise. If there are any plastic discs behind it, they will also have to be removed (by pulling off). This will expose the two screws which hold the timer in place.

If the timer knob doesn't unscrew and spins freely, the shaft leading into the timer is dislodged (permanently). You will have to destroy the timer to get to it. Remove the backplate by twisting straight the bent metal pieces which hold the cover in place. When you get to where you can see the shaft you will have to destroy the plastic which surrounds it to get to the shaft ifself. A pair of vice grips and a "I don't care if I destroy it" attitude is helpful. Once you get to the bare metal shaft you can hold it with vice grips and unscrew the knob to expose the two screws which hold the timer in place.

could be either take out the two screws at the base of the control panel and raise it up after you back the screws out pull the panel forward then lift it up its on hinges check all the connectors next you will see a black plastic piece in the center of the timer pry it loose with a small screw driver till it extends but is not all the way off this will release the control knob make sure the inner ring is on the shaft properly then posh the knob on tight and push the plastic tab back in if that doesn't fix it replace the timer
