I have a Canon Digital camera, Powershot A540 and I lost my installation disk. Where can I obtain a copy so I may be able to reinstal the software on my computer? Thanks

You don't need any software.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

I just got a new computer and need to download pictures from my powershot A540 digital camera but cannot remember what or how I once downloaded pics on my old computer. I have the usb port and need...

You can download Canon software from
http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/digital_cameras/powershot_a_series/powershot_a540#DriversAndSoftware

You might want to consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

How to download photos from A540 canon to computer I lost my manual

You can simply plugin your camera to your computer's usb port. Once the system automatically detected the new usb device and displays the green usb icon on the lower right corner of your computer's monitor, open your windows explorer.

Click your windows Start button and click Run. Type "explorer" (without the quotes) so it will open you a window. From the left panel, click on My Computer and click on the drive letter associated with your Canon A540. It will show you the contents on the right. Open the folders until you see those picture files. You can right click on that folder and choose Copy. Then go to your computer's desktop and right click from that area and click/choose Paste. That should do it.

Good luck and hope this helps. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Check cables if properly connected. Then ensure the camera is set to Display mode. If that did not work, try to test it on another computer.
