My 15 year old stepson went online and found some code that he punched into the TV I think with the remote - now the TV will not receive cable signals - he wont tell me the website or the code he put in - I cannot find anything to fix it - any ideas? I tried unplugging for a long time I tired the function/mute option I found on this site, but it is not locked. Nothing seems to work
Hi Karyne1975,
Initially, I would venture that the Parental Lock has been engaged and was set to the lowest level meaning the TV will not allow any channel to be displayed, they are all blocked.
To remove the parental lock, proceed to the Main Menu display, press on LEFT or RIGHT arrow key till Parental Guide Setting is highlighted. Before you can access, an entry code is required. The factory default is 1225 (that is if it has not been changed). Upon gaining entry, press on UP or DOWN and/or LEFT or RIGHT arrow keys to turn any entry in the MPAA-Rating and/or the TV-Rating to show U (unblock). Additionally, it may also be necessary to turn the RATE SETTING to OFF. Exit.
To my knowledge Parental Lock is not disengaged by full hard reset or unplugging from mains.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Thank you for using FixYa.
Hi again Karyne1975,
Thank you for your postback and additional information.
A couple of things you can try:
1. verify that the cable is connected to the rear of the TV;
2. verify your Air/Cable setting/selection/configuration;
3. perform the Add/Erase setup;
4. reset your video (brightness, contrast, picture, color etc) settings.
Would appreciate if you can update for any development(s) or even the lack of it.
Cheers.
To my knowledge, their are no known hacks for a TV to receive free porn or any other hacks for that matter. If ever, these hacks should and would be directed to a digital or cable receiver. The TV will simply display what was sent into it.
As initially posted, your problem appears to be "settings" in nature and normally corrective by restoring set-up/configuration to default.
An easy way to determine if it is the Apex TV or your cable input is to simply temporarily replace the Apex with any TV and determine if you get a cable reception on the replacement TV. If no reception, then it is a cable issue, if yes, then it is an Apex configuration issue. Additionally, you can try hooking an operational VCR from its RF OUT to the ANT/CABLE IN of the Apex TV, switch the Apex to either Ch 3 or 4 and see if you can view/play a known good tape. If yes then it's a matter of Air/Cable setting/selection/configuration, if not then you have a firmware of hardware issue with the Apex.
My parental code did not go away I cannot put in 1225 it only let's me put in 2 numers an that's it can u please help me haven't been able to watch any channels on my tv thank you

Hello - it is not the Parental Controls - there is not a blue screen but a black screen on every channel that has squiggly lines in it (sort of like if no cable was attached) also there is no sound. The parental lock on this would be a red key in the bottom left corner (I tried that already) also, my main menu does not have a Parental controls option. The model on the TV is AT2702 (Apex)
thank you and please let me know if you have any other ideas =)
hey - it is not any of these - he put in some code with the remote - I have no idea what (I fear maybe some hacker for free pron or something - which is why he wont tell me the site he got it on)
=(
I have already tried the TV - that works and I tried the VCR - the tape works - but I have also tried evey configuration in the menu - air/cable erasing and adding channels - doing the auto program of channels - everything - I guess this is just some abnormal issue, but I really appreciate all your help
