Toshiba laptop - Tablet with Windows XP

I have a Tablet machine that does not have an internal CD-rom or floppy drive. My hard drive has issues, it only goes to some selections to boot to safe mode, safe mode with networking... and windows normal. When I select any of them it just comes back to the same screen. There is a blue window screen that pops up before all this, but it flashes very quickly and I can not read what it says. Any suggestions?

I have two Portege m205 laptops and both of them started having the same trouble this past week. Very suspicious. On boot-up they both flash a blue-screen before automatically restarting the reboot process in an endless cycle of failed startups.

Greetings,
If we had a clarity on the OS you are using it would have been easy. Do not try to change the mode. Shut down the comp and then try to restart, as it starts then tap the F8 key on the keyboard. We'll get the option for Safe mode. If still you do not get through.
Not being sure why you want to goto safe mode you can always use a plug an play external CD ROM. In case the issue is not resolved for safe mode you'll need to repair the Windows.

Regards,

Boot up problem

this is a easy fix all you need is a windows xp installation disk.what you do is put the disk in and boot off of the cd option.if you need help with the xp cd installation i can write up a guide for you.also is the first harddrive new or came with the comp.if it is a new harddrive it might not have a operating system on it.email me if you have anymore qeustions or you want the guide.i can even make a video for you but it probably won't be good quality.

Boot up problem

NOTE: Ususally when computers DO NOT find any startup information on the SELECTED DRIVE (like when you click a key) it goes to the default drive.
WHICH IS YOUR HARD DRIVE.
Meaning it is probably your Harddrive is broken, or your connection from hard drive to motherboard is broken

Burn a Live CD bootdisk of some linux distribution
liek Slax, google it.
Burn it to a bootable CD and put it into your drive, then select to boot from it.
If it boots only using your CD ROM drive, if that works then its probably not your BIOS/rest of computer, which is good.

And while in the live cd, you can see your harddrive and see files, that means its not broken its just your connection to it....either way im guessing youll have to send it in.

Gateway Tablet, BSOD unmountable_boot_volume

you have to go to gateway and download the driver for the SATA controller then save it to floppy or cd then hit F6 durning install then it will ask you for the driver. This Tablet will not see a non-gateway cd if you have the one that came with the tablet then you are good, but if not you will need to do this for the current drive or if yo upgrade to newer drive. Hope this get you started, I had this same problem and I thought it was my motherboard was bad because it would not see the hard drive during installation. This fixed my issue with the drive not being seen during installation of the OS.

Bootable cd / dvd

one possible way around is to copy the entire cd (make a new folder named "CD COPY" or similar) to your hard drive (assuming you have enough space...about 800 Mb), then run the install from setup.exe from the hard drive, then delete the copy (to make room) when you are done.

You can obtain the Recovery disk from Toshiba. Toshiba hotline number 1-800-457-7777 (US) 0844 800 6020 (UK). You need to provide your computer's part number correct to get the matching recovery disk. Usually they charges $39.95 including shipping to your address in US.
