DVD players are region specific.  US is region 1.  Check the back of the DVD case and see what region it says. The number needs to match the region of your player. If all the #s are good, then your optical pickup lens is fu.k.d up.  Try going to the box stores and buying a DVD optical lens cleaner kit.  If that don't work, then call the manufacturer and have them deal with it.

SOURCE: Bose System Bose 321 unsupported format with dvd's

You need to stand at the front of a Bose store and tell everyone about to enter your story, until the manager of the store agrees to give you a new one. This looks like an ongoing problem that Bose knows about and will not address. $900+ and maybe 60 hours dvd time and I'm on the same boat. I thought Bose could be a trusted company.

Unsupported format read cd dvd when it read if before?

Sometimes cleaning the disk will solve the problem. Also resetting the system by pulling the power cord and putting it back in can solve the problem. If this does not help, then sometimes updating the system with the latest software can help. Just call Bose and ask for an update disk. Last but not least if nothing works, send the unit to Bose for repair.

FREEZES UP AND STOPS.SCREEN SAYS CANNOT READ DISC OR UNSUPPORTED FORMAT

Check the disk for scratches, and attempt to play it on another DVD player or your computer, if it has a DVD drive installed. The drive will have DVD written on the front. If the disk isn't a commercial DVD but playable on the computer then the problem is a unsupported format. To make sure your DVD player is working correctly put a known good DVD the player to ensure it still works.

this one sounds easy
ok lets look at the cd's-r your using are they brand new
and if brand new
then i would say that cd's and dvd's are coming out with new formats so that new cd's dvd's wont play in older equipment

now the other thing could be software and how the files movies or music was put onto the disc sometime software needs upgrade to support files on disc

is cd-r recognized by the dvd player as what i mean does it allow cd-r's to be played on the dvd player is this format supported
