After just 14 months, our hjdtv stopped working altogether. I called tech support and they gave me this number for reference; 947-43. Television was purchased 05-22-2008 but we didn't set it up until 12-24-2008 at christmas time. Tech support said I should sed copy of my reciept which is attached
2008?. Well anyway, Do you have a power light, if flashing... panel needs replacing...if no light...power board needs replacing

I am a Verizon tech and the remotes we use work for Vizio sets just fine. If for some reason the remote wont work and he tried 3 different ones then it has to be your set. I set FIOS up all day and have no trouble with those TVs

My 32" vizio I bought a week ago does the same things.
Buy an external sound system for the tv. Turn the speakers off in the TV menu. Hook the sound system up to the out speaker hookups on the tv.
You will not only have better found, you will fix the speaker buzz problem.

Have you tried taking it to Costco for an exchange? Other than their strict return policy on many electronic items, they are very good about customer service. They may make an exception if you take it in and talk with a manager in person.

It's likely not a backlight, but a mainboard. If you are feeling frisky, take the back off and get the model number off the mainboard and check eBay.
