A continuous flashing red light with the word LAMP on it would definitely mean you're going to need to spend a few bucks on a new lamp....or for a few more, upgrade to a TV from this century that doesn't require lamp changes :)
this just happened to us, we tried the reset button, didn't work. we unplugged from surge protector and plugged the tv in the regular wall socket and after a few minutes the green light quit and we were able to turn tv on
There can be several causes for this, few of which you can do anything about. However, a few things to try:
1) Replace the batteries on your remote control. 2) Try resetting the logic functions on yourtv by unplugging it for a minute, then plugging it back in. 3) Try covering up the infra-red receptor on the front of your TV to see if you're getting unwanted signals from the receptor. taping a piece of foil over that area is perfect. If it doesn't stop after doing these two things you'll probably need to take it to a shop. 4) If this does stop it, then look for unexpected signal sources. Have you added a remote control extender? Added a new device to your audio-videosystem? Changed to a new remote?

an internal component has failed. my sony rear projection t.v. did this when the convergence i.c. failed. there could be many different reasons for this. a technician will have to look at the t.v.
I have the same TV and just replaced the same lampTY-LA1000.
You have to reset the clock that times the lamp.Hold down the volume button(first you turn on the TV) while holding down the PiP button or the swap Button on the remote. that fixed mine.
