I have 2 porch lights out front of my house. The 1 closest to the front door periodically flickers every 30 to 45 seconds and does this throughout the night. Why is this happening and should I be concerned that it may have to do with the fact that this house has its original wiring from when the house was built in late 1930's? Or maybe just a dirty connector?
One of the first things that you want to check, is the wire connections above the light that is flickering. It would be a good idea to check the first light also, and the switch connections, due to the age of the wiring. If all this fails, then you are probably right and the socket of the flickering light should be changed.
It would not hurt to go in grids and work your way thru the house, checking the wiring and tightening the wire nuts, or connectors.
Enjoy :)

Wow, it's amazing that your house still has original wiring from the 30s. I have a similar problem, except the flickering happens in my bathroom and it makes me nervous about using water around electrical problems. I think it would be best for both of us to call an electrical maintenance service to deal with our problems safely.http://www.kunselmanelectric.com/residen...
