It's part of human nature to forget. Luckily, online there are ways to retrieve a password if it is forgotten. Yahoo! Messenger is one of the many instant messaging programs available, and it provides an in-depth and secure process to retrieve a forgotten password. After answering questions that only you should know, you will be able to give your account a new password.
1.Click "Forgot Password" under the password box on Yahoo! Messenger. This will open your web browser to a Yahoo! support page to start with the password resetting process.
2.Select "I forgot my password" and click "Next."
3.Enter your Yahoo! ID. You can enter your full Yahoo! email or just the first half of it (without the "@yahoo.com").
4.Enter the CAPTCHA code underneath and click "Next." CAPTCHA codes keep your account safe from computer bots trying to gain access to your information. If you cannot see the code, you can click "Need audio assistance" to listen to the code or click "Can't read this code" for a different randomly generated code.
5.Select the option to reset the password. Choose the email address you provided as your alternate address to have the reset password emailed to you or click "I can't access any of the above" to get it through the web browser. Click "Next" when done.
6.Answer the security questions you chose if you selected "I can't access any of the above." Click "Next" after each one. If you chose to receive the password by mail, open your email and select "Reset My Password."
7.Enter your new password in the boxes that appear and click "Next." You will then be brought to a web page where you can change your password retrieval options, but your password has already successfully been changed. This page is optional.

Or you may be able to retrieve the password from the computer's browser (if you have accessed Yahoo from that computer). You can do that with some free software:
YahooPasswordDecryptor by SecurityXploded
Download the program:
http://www.securityxploded.com/yahoo-password-decryptor.php
and then install. The program will display the user ID and password for any Yahoo account accessed from that machine.

If you use Firefox as your web browser, it's much easier to retrieve a stored password. Just go to Tools > Options > Security > Saved Passwords > Show Passwords

Go to Forgot password option that comes with sign in option.They will ask u for your yahoo id (of which your password has not been working/hacked),and they will ask for an another id like g-mail id of your's on which they could send u the password resetting links.If u don't have any another g-mail id make a new one and give it to them.
Immediately they will send u some links on your given g-mail id through which u can reset your passward.

Go to login page of Yahoo.click on the option" I forget my Password" , enter next ,please enter your email id on that page. and follow the instructions to retrieve password. If this is helpful please rate the answer

Click the "Forget your ID or password" link at the lower right of your screen, it will help you retrieve your password for sure. And you can have your email address back...as long as you have the information needed to verify your account, one of it is the the answer to your secret question...good luck!
