Try to install a heavy duty vibration proof bulb. Most hardware stores sock these. Your door might vibrate too much and cause premature bulb failure.
Another alternative is to remote mount a light and run the cord to a screw-in plug outlet where the original bulb was.This way you could even mount a fluorescent or more than one light and not be concerned about vibration from the opener.

i have a wd822k opener and my lights will not come on. They used to burn out frequently, but now good working bulbs don't work. I can hear a relay pull in, but no light.
