The typewriter will not print. Tried replacing the ribbon and nothing happens. HELP!!

    IBM Wheelwriter 5 Typewriter will not print. New tape was put in but made no difference.

Most likely the plastic cap on the print solenoid is broken they are available but are a bit tricky to install.

Typewriter is working fine but won't type anything on the paper - new ribbon / new printwheel - no impression. Appears to be stuck on a "stencil" setting.
Put in a mulit part form, if it prints on the copies the ribbon isn't lifting, if it dosen't the plastic cap on the print solenoid needs replaced.

yes it was true that the cap was broken. temporarily, i just cut a piece of plastic from a spoon, same thickness as the cap then place it between the plunger and the solenoid. and now my wheelwriter is typing great! all letters are clear and much black in color. thanks for pointing where the cap was place. easy to find it.

All of a sudden, the typewriter quit typing.
The plastic cap on the print solenoid is probably broken, they are available but a little tricky to install.

The print solenoid, just inside the L. printer side frame has a plastic cap on the plunger it is probably broken, they are available but a little tricky to install.

Put new ribbon cartridge in ibm wheelwriter 3 not printing now
If the ribbon is lifting up you probably have a cracked print solenoid plunger cap. They are available but a little tricky to install.
