I have a Samsung hdtv model LE32R74BDX. I have had it now for just over a year and appox. 6 month later we had 3 black lines to the left of the screen about 3cms apart. The lines are quite thick and start at the top right down to the bottom. I thought at the time it was to do with the scart so i bought a new one eventually, but it didn't help. Now another 2 lines have appeared. I was hoping someone would be able to tell me what they are, what cause them and what can i do? Thank you.

All I can say is when you watch T.V. the plasmas run off of plasma gas and when you leave something on for so long it burns in the screen. I have the same T.V. and when watching like the weather channel it leaves lines but they go away. If yours are permanent then you can't do anything, but it may help if you go on your remote and go to "menu" then look for "setup" and scroll down with the arrows on your remote. Look for "screen burn protection" and select "white screen". This will make your whole screen white and it may take out the lines. If you let it sit white it won't hurt it. All one color won't hurt, the only thing that hurts is like bright white lines in front of a dark background. Just give your T.V. a break from time to time ESPECIALLY ON VIDEO GAMES. T.V. shows that are HD usually have their channel icons that move or are very dim and they won't hurt. Just go to what I told you and let it sit about 20 minutes, if that doesn't help, then the T.V. you have i believe comes with a 2-year standard warranty and if it's under warranty take it back if you have the reciept. If no reciept then call 1-800-SAMSUNG.

Why did my Quasar TV (1993) picture go out again, blue line across the screen? We had it repaired, 3 months later no picture, same blue line.

Sounds to me like something else is causing those parts to fail. It should be under warranty but depends on the repair shop. Why not just buy a new one.

Here are some choices for a new one:

My 32 inch samsung lcd tv has got faint black lines running down the screen ,its nearly 4 years old but i expected it to last longer than that, and ive had sky hd box recently would that have anything todo...

Are these lines on both side of the screen or what location are they in? They can be caused by watching 4:3 television with the black bars on both sides. Watching 16:9 full screen HD wont cause issues with that. If only on the sides there is not much you can do except put a pure white screen on the TV and leave that on for at least 6 hours. This will age the panel a little but in theroy wil even the pixel burn you have to make the lines less noticable. Please take a few moments to rate my answer. Thank you

Black line down the left side of the screen

This is a bad panel. The panel is very expensive to replace. It would be cheaper to buy a new tv. Sorry about the bad news.

Dark vertical shadows

No,you can't. This is very common. I bought a new tv and i noticed right away that it had the problem you are mentioning. I took it back for an exchange and the next tv did not have this problem...until a year later. Now,of course it does have this problem, but it is out of warranty.

I think they make televisions very poorly today.

Vertical lines across my entire screen

My 42" Samsung Plasma HDTV HP-R4252 has a 2" vertical strip of green pixels down the right side of the screen.

My 3 year warranty with Circuit City expires in Nov 2008.. so I hope I'm covered.. can't call until the morning.

Samsung said it might be a logic board problem.. but they want almost $2000 to fix. I might as well buy another TV if Circuit City can't fix it.
