Mine is not red and blue, but just red lines. Would changing the convergence I C solve the problem and where is it located?

  • Anonymous Oct 15, 2008

I have the same problem with the convergence ICs. I ordered the new ICs andinstalled them. Made 100% sure about the solder job. Fairly easy job. Now picture is worse than before. Before I could adjust the vertical convergence, now I can't control vert. or horz. Also the picture is bowing in from the top and bottom and the picture is extremmly red in color. A friend told me I might have the IC box(silver box) not plugged in properly with the ribbon wires. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

    Philips 55PP935217

    Hello ,

I'm having similar problems, when I go to manual converging I can see the blue appears to be lined correctly?

When I try to line the red to green it will not work.

I can move the the + around to each location but cannot get them to line up together.

I keep reading about the IC'S, could this be my problem?

I do not want to open the back of the set until I know a solution.

I will order a set of IC'S if this may be the problem?

Where would be the best location to order?

Can anybody tell me how to locate these chips on the board or is it obvious when I have the new IC'S?

An ic (it is usually capatilized as IC) is an acronym for intigrated circuit.

Change the convergence ICs also check the resistors right next to the ICs as 1 or 2 of them may be open as well.

55 inch with blue ghost like glow on white or blue colors

Inside of your TV their is a fluid that keeps the tubes cool. Over the years this fluid will turn cloudy and cuase the screen to look dull, bright white, have halos, etc. You can get the fluid over the internet from various sources or your can get a complete kit including repair instructions from www.TvRepairKits.com.

55 hdtv philips having issues with blue and red lines around everything ......

www.electronix.com should have them for about 10.00 each they involve soldering and dissasembly of the convergence board. A repair shop will charge between 300 and 400 to do the repair depending on where its done.If you go to the link enter STK392-110 in the search box and that will show you what they look like yours are either 392-110 or 392-120s they both interchange with each other, however STK392-120 are a better chip.

Green dot in middile of my screen

The green dot in the center sounds like a burn mark on one or more of the picture tubes inside the set, and the curved lines are telling me that you have a problem in the convergence circuits. The blue haze around everything white tells me you either have a lot of dust build up on the lens over the CRTs, or your picture tube(s) are very weak. If this set is over about 12 years old, I would replace it. I doubt if you will be able to get the green dot out of the picture without changing the tubes which would be VERY expensive.
