I have a identical problem to the problem pasted below - but can make it go away by applying pressure to the panel:
"By krisvannoy on Oct 09, 2009 - I have a Sony KDL46XBR4 LCD that has a problem with the backlight. It is dark on 2/3 of the screen from the middle to the right side. After about 35 minutes the problem goes away"
I opened the set, removed the left speaker and high voltage shield, and after much analysis determined that if I press on the plastic strip holding the fluorescent tubes (with a plastic high voltage-safe probe and shield removed) the problem goes away immediately. I loosened the screw and adjusted the fit - but it did not last. If I press on the top right of the screen, slightly flexing the panel, the problem goes away, even if the set is "cold".
In addition to the darker image, the right side has motion blur until the problem goes away - then it is fine.
Would a defective inverter behave this way, or is there something wrong with the fluorescent tube connections? Can they be adjusted? The shop manual warns the backlight tubes can be destroyed if I remove the plastic holder screws. The problem seems to be under there - is there a way to remove that to see what the problem is?
After the set is warmed up (25 minutes or so), the tv works perfectly.
Thanks,
Ron
I have the same description of the problem , I replaced the TCON but it is still the same. If the next part is going to be too expensive i'll just buy another tv set.

I have a feeling that the brackets from the back created a misalignment of the LCD overtime because of the weight so I decided to align it and use the base mount that came with the LCD TV and tried it first while its on the floor. Guess what? It worked for me. I hope it works for you too.

Hi Ron, thanks for describe many valuable details. You suspect something wrong with the fluorescent tube, if it is true, shall be dark on top or bottom, not left or right, also the problem with the backlight the TV will shut off and the timer LED will blink 6 times.
I think there is the bad connection inside the panel or the t-con board, only think you can do is try to reconnect the wires under the aluminum foil (see the picture) or replace the panel.
