LG Super-Multi GH20NS15 internal DVD cannot read DVD

Hello there,

If your LG SecurDisc 20x Internal Double-Layer DVD RW/CD-RW Super Multi Drive w/LightScribe does not read disc, burn cds or dvd, then it means there is a problem with the lens of the LG SecurDisc 20x Internal Double-Layer DVD RW/CD-RW Super Multi Drive w/LightScribe.

You will have to replace the LG SecurDisc 20x Internal Double-Layer DVD RW/CD-RW Super Multi Drive w/LightScribe or have the lens replaced.

Be sure not to use the LG SecurDisc 20x Internal Double-Layer DVD RW/CD-RW Super Multi Drive w/LightScribe to watch movies as that weakens the lens easily.

Perhaps you need a DVD player application.

There is a free player called VLC Media Player which I highly recommend. To download it you need to visit http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

get the dvd rewriter to record at its slowest speed.you do this through the software,which im not familiar with sorry.also usr quality media eg verbartim or tdk

It seems as though you are burning the downloaded youtube videos directly to a CD/DVD and trying to play them back on your DVD.I also deduce that your DVD player does not support playback of data discs.
To play back such videos on your DVD, you must use a software that will encode them to the appropriate format and medium of choice, e.g. a Video DVD or Video CD(VCD or SVCD standard). Check out Microsoft's Nero Burning Kit from http://www.nero.com/.This software supports encoding of video files to VCDs and DVDs. Another tool that you might find useful is the famous DVDVideosoft Free Studio from http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/.It supports many video formats and I suggest you download the full studio.The download is approximately 56MB in size. A much better product that I would advice you to use is ConvertXtoDVD.The tool isn't free, but it's results are simply mind-blowing.It also supports multi-threaded, multi-core and multi-processor(SMP) processing.Get it from http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/download-convertxtodvd.php

I would do either of 2 things. First, check the LG site for any firmware updates that apply to your model and apply them
Second, try using a CD cleaner kit to be sure any dust on the laser is removed. These usually involve a cleaning disc and aren't common, but do exist. They use a static charges surface that lifts dust from your DVD read/write head and the platter.

It will not work properly. If you contact their support they will just try to get you to pay for an upgrade of the software. Take it back to the store and get something else.

1st step; Acquire/buy a cd/dvd rom drive cleaning tool kit from your local pc store.
2nd step; Install a dvd coder/decoder software, try Power DVD player software it has a trial version
3rd step; After installing the DVD coder/decoder from Power DVD player try playing a dvd movie rom disc it should work/play... hope these tips help ;-)

Purchased two of these VCR/DVD recorders (for the ATSC-digital tuner) in March 2007 at Best Buy. They play PAL/region 0 out of the box. To enable region-free playback I used the CD-ROM previously made for my LG LST-3510A. Visit this link for the files to burn your disc:

Next:
--Power on the player and load the CD-ROM
--In a few moments a text box appears displaying current DVD region and a second line to change DVD region
--Press the number you wish (most likely "0") on the remote control
--Press "Enter" on the remote control
--In a few seconds the player will eject the disc. Remove the CD-ROM from the tray and power off

Upon powering on the player my region 2 and 4 DVD's play fine but Macrovision still remains.

OR

Click the HOME button on the remote with the unit in 480i resolution
Click the setup page
Click Start
Click TV Aspect
highlight the 16x9 wide aspect ratio
enter on remote control this coded sequence:
1397139

Edit specific "Options"

Option 2: 35 (enables Divx/Xvid playback)
Option 4: ff (enables Vcd and SVCD playback)
Option 5: ff (enables region free playback (region 0) DVD playback)
Option 6: ce (enables Insignia brand startup logo on boot)
Option 6: c0 (enables LG brand startup logo on boot)

Have an LG Super Multi DVD Drive, Model:GSA-4120B.

Won't recognize any disk, CD or DVD and won't play any audio video

Device manager says, it's working properly

Some models of PIONEER cd players had radio frequency problems that caused them to work on and off. Are you near any radio or braodcast towers? Poorly shielded power supplies cause this as well. A weak laser diode in the pick-up assembly in model runs could be the problem. You might want to Google the model number and see if this is common for these units.
