System crash during driver install

Windows XP pro service pack 2 or 3 crashes when installing latest Lexmark X4550 driver. This is a reinstall on fresh Windows installation. Same result when using original CD.

It would be helpful if we know where in the installation process it would crash your pc. If you don't mind, run the installation software again using either the installation cd or the downloaded file. Keep an eye on the installation status bar and the installation process on what particular software installation (e.g. scan software) it would trigger the crash. This can also be caused by conflict of hardware/software (e.g. webcam).

Thanks for your reply. The crash occurs at the Setting Restore point phase of the windows hardware setup wizard. When I run the installation, there is no other hardware turned on except the printer. I have no webcam, only USB flash/hard drives which are not plugged in to the computer when I attempt to install the printer.

I think I know what the problem is now. It's the add-on internal USB2.0 card that I use. I need to use one of the built-in USB1.2 slots instead during the install process. Thanks for jogging my memory on that.

Cannot install business plan pro version 11.0

Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) The latest version of Business Plan Pro 11.0 will install and run in Windows XP with Service Pack 3 (SP3).
If you're installing the software from a CD, you may not have the latest version and could encounter a message during the installation that indicates you need Windows XP with Service Pack 2 installed. Downloading the latest installer from our website will resolve that problem.
Resolution
Take the following steps to download the latest installer and use it to install our software:
  1. Click the link below to go to the Software Download page of our website:
    http://www.paloalto.com/download_software
  2. Enter your Business Plan Pro 11.0 serial number and the email address you use for registrations, then click Go
  3. Accept the License Agreement and click the "Continue to Downloads" button.
  4. Once you reach the downloads page, you should be prompted to either Open or Save the installer file. Choose to Save this file to the Desktop of the computer.
  5. Once the download completes, choose to Open or Run the file to install the latest version of the software on your computer.

Service pack 2 for xp crashes the system

Access http://www.microsoft.com/downloads
and download XP Service Pack 3, and install it.

It is *NOT* necessary to install SP2 _before_ installing SP3.

After installing, run Windows Update (for another 80+ updates issued since SP3 was issued).

Is there a fix for Windows XP Home SP3 crash? my computer crashes all the time, i can format but i thought that there may be a fix because this is a known issue and many people have the same problem. If...

To make it short, you can try un-installing SP3, but the reason you computer is crashing is due to a program that is having incompatibility issues. That doesn't meant that your programs can run on SP3, it mean your programs and maybe even your drivers were install when you had SP2 and they didn't like the service pack update. You can definitely try to find which programs or driver are causing the problems but I recommend. Do a full format(non quick) and then a fresh install of windows and then update windows, and also try to download the latest drivers from the manufactures website and then install your programs.

**So yes I recommend an operating system re-install.

Sounds like a bad file . I would consider reinstalling windows. When it starts up, for a new install, it will find your existing OS and ask it you want it repaired, say yes then it wil repair it and leave al you data as is.
