A web page will open, follow instructions, select model, select operative system etc., and click on download .
Chose to download the file in my documents when asked.
After downloading,find the
file,double click on the file with the mouse, if you get in troubles
,then follow instructions below to reset and reinstall:
- Unplug printer USB.
- Go to control panel >> installed printers in Windows and remove (delete ) any installed printer from printer list.
- Download driver from website and run the file.
- Follow driver installation wizard.
- Plug back printer when prompted from installation wizard.
Note:some printer does not work on Vista
It would be helpful if we know where in the installation process it would crash your pc. If you don't mind, run the installation software again using either the installation cd or the downloaded file. Keep an eye on the installation status bar and the installation process on what particular software installation (e.g. scan software) it would trigger the crash. This can also be caused by conflict of hardware/software (e.g. webcam).
Thanks for your reply. The crash occurs at the Setting Restore point phase of the windows hardware setup wizard. When I run the installation, there is no other hardware turned on except the printer. I have no webcam, only USB flash/hard drives which are not plugged in to the computer when I attempt to install the printer.
I think I know what the problem is now. It's the add-on internal USB2.0 card that I use. I need to use one of the built-in USB1.2 slots instead during the install process. Thanks for jogging my memory on that.
