I have a Maytag Atlantis top load washer which leaks in the rear right hand corner under the discharge hose, how do I take the machine apart to get to the problem.
No boot on a top loader, the tub seal and bearing are gone, water leaked from the tub seal, rusted the bearing and quite possibly the milk stool and transmission. Check your warranty, the transmission may have a 5 year limited warranty, usually it will include the tub seal and bearing with the kit.
My guess is that one of the three counterweights have separated from their support. Probably rusted away. 36 years is quite a feat. Today's machines would be lucky to 1/3 of that life. Sounds like its time to go shopping. Do you have an anniversary coming up? Ladies love washers for an anniversary gift.
i believe i can help you,,but washers dont agitate in the spin cycle,,i believe you ment it wont wring or spin in the spin cycle..your lid switch is defective,,replace,,if need be i can talk you though,,onthejob
Start by checking the belt by tilting the machine back and examining for wear, glazing and cracks, next pull the belt to make sure everything turns. Post back if this looks fine.
check the lid switch, just replaced the spin bearing on my maytag atlantis washer, mav9750aww, if i called the repairman to fix it, for the money they would charge on replacing this part i could of bought another washer. so i made a website on how to do the job with step by step and with lots of pictures. since it basically takes apart the whole machine, if you are replacing another part you could use this how to to get to the parts. i hope this helps who ever needs it http://www.geocities.com/maytagrepairwasher/
