Make sure that there is enough light on china or a picture and please off the flash and take a picture.
since the surfaces are very smooth, the flash automatically reflects.this is called reflection of light phenomenon in physics.
so,make sure that there is enough light and switch off the flash, while you are taking a picture of that.

How do i turn the flash off

Welcome to FixYa.

The FORCED OFF mode is the setting where flash is not activated in any recording condition. this mode used when taking pictures in places where the use of the flash is not permitted.

There are other 5 different mode/setting in using photo flash.

1. AUTO - flash automatically activated according to the recording condition.

2. AUTO/Red-eye reduction - flash is automatically activated according to the recording condition. It reduces the red-eye phenomenon by triggering the flash before actually recording the picture. After that, the flash is activated for actual recording again.

3. FORCED ON - use the when your subject is back-lit or under fluorescent light.

4. FORCED ON/Red-eye reduction - use this when you set the camera to PARTY MODE

5. Slow sync./Red-eye reduction - use this when you take pictures of people in front of a dark background.

I hope this solution will help you. Just send us you comments or suggestion if this solution was helpful.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Pictures still blurry

Instead of green auto mode set to P mode and chagne the flash setting to non auto.If flash is is in auto mode flash will not fire and picture will be blurry. So your flash must fire every time (and it must not be decided by camera's auto flash mode).
I am sure this will solve your settings.

The flash will not work. I think something needs to be reset but not sure how to do that.

On the Navigaton direction button on the back of the camera the "Right direction" button has a little lightning bolt sign.

Repeatedly press this button while the camera is in picture taking mode to go through the flash settings sequence. (Watch the display while pressing this button)
Settings:
1 No Flash, Lightning bolt circled with slash across it.
2 Auto Flash, Lightning bolt with an "A" beside it.
3 Auto RedEye remover, includes an "eye" symbol.
4 Flash Always On, Lightning bolt alone.
5 Unknown, I don't know what the S mode is, I haven't used that one before (something to do with ISO virtual film speed setting).

Have fun.
Hope this was helpfull.308b6a1.jpg

Sony CYBER -shot DSC-w190 does not flash when taking picture although flash auto on

It will only flash when there is not enough available light when in AUTO flash mode.
To flash no matter what, go into the camera setting and select that choice.
Normally something like demand flash or a symbol that looks like a lightning bolt. Then it will flash every time. That does use more battery power though. By the way, I like that setting better too.

How do I turn off the flash for the canon powershot a630?

First of all, the flash can not be turned off in "Auto" mode. You can turn it off in any mode other than Auto. Would recommend Program "P" mode, which is very similar to Auto, but allows you to modify certain minor items such as flash and white balance.

Rotate your mode dial to "P", then press the button on the back with the "lightning bolt" icon. Press until the lightning bolt with a slash shows up on your LCD screen. The flash is now turned off in Program mode. Try taking a picture.

Remember, if in low light conditions you'll need to keep the camera extra steady without flash to get a clear picture. Recommend placing the camera on a table or chair (or even better, use a tripod), then using its autotimer to snap the picture.

Dots on pictures when using flash on my ricoh caplio R4 camera

The dots usually appear when either the lens is not clean or when using high ISO speed. Check in your camera if you can reduce the ISO speed while taking pictures and also try cleaning the lens.

No flash in "P" mode

In all of modes you can use "up" key to toggle between "always on", "auto"  and "off" mode for flash. (in some mode there is only auto and off.) also the flash light icon on top right of screen shows th status of flash. I hope this helps...
