Oil filter... i have the 2002 pontiac grand am with an ecotech 2.2 liter engine and can not find the oil filter for the life of me.... email me at [email protected]

sorry would need to see it to know the problem ,but i have had it where the oil filter itself wasnt made properly and it leaks on the crimped seal on the filter .

Under vehicle, center, below trunk area, rear of fuel tank, mounted in fuel line . Mmm. M

some of those grand ams use a filter retainer as a
drain plug as well , best to take it to a shop.
be sure they dont strip the filter assembly.

LOOK UNDER THE CAR UNDER THE PLASTIC SHIELD ITS CLOSE TO BOTTOM OR RADIATOR SUPPORT. PLASTIC SHIELD HELD IN PLACE BY 2 LARGE WING NUTS.OIL FILTER RIGHT UNDER THEPLASTIC SHIELD.

To reset "CHANGE OIL" light, turn the ignition switch to the run position without starting the engine. Fully depress and release the accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds. and wait for the light to flash. Check your manual it maybe slightly different. Real easy fix.

should be where the upper rad hose is connected to the motor,,thats the thermostat housing,,

Oil filter on the 3.1 liter engine on the 2004 Grand Am is located on the engine, just below the exhaust manifold on the radiator side. To remove it, your going to have to jack the front up off the ground to give you room to get to it. Once your under the car, you'll see the oil filter just under the exhaust manifold attached to the engine block.

You didn't state what size engine you have.
The 2.2 engine----- 6.9 qts.
The 2.3 engine-----7.4 qts.
The 2.4 is 7.4 qts.
The 3.1 is 7.4 qts.
The 3.4 is 6.9 qts.
These are the capacities for refilling after being drained.

if you have the 2.2 ecotech engine

the filter is directly in front of where you add oil, you will need a 24 or 32 mm socket with an extension to reach the black top enclosure.

they changed the size of the socket needed and i cant remember what year they changed it try the 24 first.
