    Hi,

I have a N5 card for my DS Lite, but it doesn't work.

I read your suggestions and I tried with the firmware version 1.23, 1.22, 1.20.

    I have formatted
the micro card SD 2 GB to fat32, then copied the files _AX_MENU.DAT,
_DS_MENU.DAT, _DS_MSHL.NDS and the folders _system_ and moonshl to the
card, then I copied my .NDS game files to the root card.

But when I turn the DS on, it is staying on the loading screen (Loading...) !!!!

Please, can you help me as soon as possible?

    Thank you

I had the same problem tonight, after it came up on the screen the first time, I just switched it off and back on, then it said the “ds_menu.dat” file is missing. I wonder if it’s possible that I can just download the “ds_menu.dat” some where to put to the ds card to solve this.

Found solution to R5:
download latest firmware (1.19 at present) and unzip
format MicroSD to Fat or Fat32
Copy firmware onto MSD in this order ONE BY ONE !!!!!!
This step is very important!!!!
1. DS_MENU.DAT
2. _AXMENU.DAT
3. _DS_MSHL.DNS
4. _SYSTEM_ folder
5. moonshl folder
Then load your .nds files into the root.
I've had absolutely no problems with this card so far and if
installed correctly it works brilliantly!!!

The problem is now finally solved.
It was a firmware problem.
You have to download the new 1.18 version from dsn5.com (but it must be the new 1.18 from 07/05/2008, if you downladed 1.18 before that date, the file is corrupted too).
Try it, it's confirmed by n5 team.

Ok,i finally found out the solution for this problem.i believe the problem is caused by the player not exiting the game correctly the first time it is played.when the *.sav game is created by dsn5 for the  corresponding game on the microsd card If you shut down the DS or fail to exit the game correctly(befor saving, that is), it fails to terminate the *.SAV file. I belive it is this that corrupts the micro SD card, requiring it to be reformatted .
I suggest loading one game at a time on to the SD card, play it, successfully create the *.SAV file and then backup the game and *.SAV file to your PC. Repeat this for all games until you have a *.SAV file for each required game. Then reload all of the games with the *.SAV files back on to your micro SD card.

Remember to backup the *.SAV files to your PC after playing on the DS. This way, you'll have a restore point for each game if if happens again on a new game.
this worked for comicbook reader for ds too.

I have the same problem to this. My father and I found that formatting it and copying everything all over again helps. But every once in a while it corrupts. So basically, the only real (and annoying) solution we are currently doing is making a backup in the computer so everytime it corrupts, we just copy everything all over again. It's annoying but it helps. Only disadvantage is that you lose the progress you had after your last backup. TT__TT

Dude like with every ROM user, you need something that can open and work the ROM's. you have to download the ds n5 menu. im not sure of the exact site ( i borrowed my friends i copied off his menu onto my computer) and voila! it works! as long as you have a folder marked "games" and there are ds roms in it, then you can play them ok? i hope this was helpful.

Hi guys, i had the same problem til i went to a french site which has the proper version. First format the micro sd card fat32 - i chose default setting for the byte size.
then goto this site Which google has kindly translated to english and click the N5 - ver 1.27 link and DL it. Unzip files and copy them to the root directory of the micro card. Plug into your N5 card and pop into the DS. Should now work. Just drag and drop games to your micro card to get them to work properly. Hope this helps

Go to dsn5.com and click download then you can find there a new version of dsn5 firmware.after downloading unzip it and follow the ff. steps:Copy paste this files one by one
1. DS_MENU.DAT
2. _AX MENU.DAT
3. _DS_MSHL.DNS
4. _SYSTEM_ folder
5. moonshl folder

I downloaded the moonshell v1.71 folder and replaced the moonshl folder with it - it has no .sav files in it so maybe you could get away with just deleting the .sav files in the moonshl folder so it cam create new ones the first time it loads?

I found out that soft reset corrupts the SD card. Happened to me twice already. So from now on I'm just going to turn it off and on again.

I have the same problem too.If your confused why is it stuck in the loading page,it is because your ds card is overloaded. The better way to solve it is to go back to the shop were you bought it and im sure they can tell whats the problem.dont worry there will be no fine because it is a problem of many files downloaded to your dsn5 card

Hi I had the same problem. I used the mem card that i previously used in my R4DS. when i deleted all system files and put the new files Version 1.17 on there it stil did not work.
Solution for me was a fresh format fat32 and then put the 1.17 files on there.

Format the micro card to fat32, then copy the files that came in the cd. or go to http://www.dsn5.com/index.files/en/index.htm and download it.

Likely solution 19 i also believe the problem is caused by the player not exiting the game correctly the first time it is played.when the *.sav game is created by dsn5 for the corresponding game on the microsd card If you shut down the DS or fail to exit the game correctly(befor saving, that is), it fails to terminate the *.SAV file.

My solution is delete the last *.sav game and .nds file played, for me it gave certain

DSL light has stopped recognizing N5 cards. I've tried 2 cards neither works. Both cards work in another system. DS games do work.

the slot1 socket is not holding the cards tight enough on the pins inside the socket, when the card is in the ds try to push the card slightly from the top away from you and turn the ds on, if it loads there is a trick you can do. Get back to me if it works and ill run u through what to do.

Nintendo ds N5 card stuck on loading screen

For the N5 you need to fully format the 2gb card, don't be tempted to do a quick format because it won't work.
You are right to use version 1.28 but copy each file across individually in the order they are listed when you have downloaded them. Then you can create your 3 folders assuming you want them

I have spend a few months on and off arguing with these cards but doing as above should solve your problem.

Prob loading free ds games off pc.

When you say, "Keeps Loading Up..." what do you mean?

If it boots as if they were no N5 card, then I would suggest the N5 card or Micro SD card isn't seated properly and making contact with all the game slot contacts.

Ds nintendo n5 card

Your DS may need to be repaired. If your DS is less than a year old, Nintendo will cover the cost of the repair. If the DS is older than one year, then you will probably have to pay $75 plus shipping and handling. For the quickest service, you should call 1800 255-3700.
