We have a GE top loading washer (model S3700E4WW) that is exactly two years old. It is going through the cycles, but when it reaches the spin cycle, it will drain the water, hums as though going through the cycle, but does not spin out the clothes. My husband feels that it may be the timer (the dial doesn't seem to be "catching" right when setting the machine), but we would like some additional insight before ordering the part. He has checked the belt, which is tight. Any help would be appreciated!
I ge washer S3700Goww doesn't spin, I lossen the bottom plate and the belt is find but I have ground up metal peieces .
You both need to have the switch replaced or you can open top of washer and combine the lid switches wires together as a bypass and electrical tape
the lid switches are put in the washers to keep kids from opening the washer machine this is automatic shut down
for xenazoe
you require this part for your washer
Part Number: WH12X10065
SWITCH PRESSURE
oh by the way guest you got ripped off that was not someone who was certified to work on your washer
i would have done it for 20 dollars plus the cost of part in the future becareful who works on your appliances
get at least 3 estimates before someone works on your appliances you would be amazed
completely wrong. if you are charging $20 for a labor fee then you are doing illegal side jobs. Those of us that have business insurance, and state licensing and gas to pay for have to charge a bit more to cover overhead, not to mention employees. You must be riding your bike to get these repairs done and selling used parts.

I am having the same problem. I had a serviceman come out and he stated that when the lid is opened during the wash cycle the clutch trips or freezes up. He took the front panel off and clicked some kind of switch below the motor and plugged it back up all in less than 5 minutes and $150. Now I have the same problem again and i never opened the lid during the wash cycle. Could something else be causing this problem?
