Is this cooktop new? Was it converted to propane or do you use natural gas? If it was converted, I was just thinking they put in the wrong size orifice. If it has been working fine and is just now giving you problems, then check the burner holes and see if they are partially plugged from food spills.

I have bosch pgl985uc burner problem. The center burner will not stay lit. Seems other have had this problem. I ordered all new thermo-couplers. Installed, since Bosch changed them to a new part number...

If The Burner lights and stays lit as long as the knob is depressed, but goes out after the knob is released then there is a failure with the thermocoupler or the valve itself. The thermocoupler can be tested once removed from the cooktop - as follows
Heat the tip on the thermocoupler with a match or lighter and measure the electrical connection (other end) with a voltmeter - it should read about 15 mV or slightly more with in a few seconds. If no voltage is read then the thermocoupler is faulty and should be replaced.
The valve coil can also be tested for continuity at while the unit is disassembled. If no continuity is found the valve is faulty and should be replaced
The small voltage created from heating the thermocoupler energizes the coil in the valve which in turn keeps the gas turned on while there is heat at the thermocoupler.
Some units actually reignite the burner if the heat is lost and the control knob is in the on position.

Hope this helps ....

I have bosch pgl985uc burner problem. The center burner will not stay lit.

I have the same problem especially with the center burner, but now am having increasing difficulty with two other burners. Those will eventually stay lit if I depress the knob for 20 - 30 seconds. The center burner will not stay lit, even when keeping the knob depressed for 2 - 3 minutes!

Two burners wont ignite

Sounds like the electric sending unit for the right burners is not working. Do you hear the cliking noise on the right side when you turn the knob to LITE? If not then you need to replace the electric sending unit, they are located under the knobs, they are a smal square box that goes on the switch valve rod, they have tow wires on the side, just unplug and lift, and look for greasse or anything that might interrup contact, you might be able to use the same ones, or just replace with new ones....Good Luck

Cooktop's electronic igniter started clicking all by itself

Check to make sure your burner caps are aligned. I had this problem, and it turned out one of my burner caps was slightly askew. Putting it level fixed the problem.
